Zscaler boosts AI protection with SPLX acquisition

Zscaler

Zscaler, a leader in cloud security solutions, has announced the acquisition of AI security pioneer SPLX.

Zscaler, based in San Jose, California, is renowned for its Zero Trust Exchange platform, which helps global enterprises securely connect users, devices, and applications. SPLX, an innovative cybersecurity company, specialises in AI asset discovery, red teaming, and governance, providing solutions designed to protect artificial intelligence models and workflows from emerging threats.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed amount, is aimed at extending Zscaler’s Zero Trust Exchange platform with enhanced AI-focused capabilities. Through this deal, Zscaler will integrate SPLX’s technology to offer shift-left AI asset discovery, automated red teaming, and governance, enabling businesses to protect their AI systems from development to deployment. The move reflects Zscaler’s commitment to helping organisations adopt AI securely and with confidence.

Zscaler provides a cloud-native security platform that delivers comprehensive Zero Trust solutions to enterprises around the world. Its services enable organisations to securely access applications while preventing data loss, cyber threats, and unauthorised access. SPLX, on the other hand, has built a reputation for its deep expertise in AI security, particularly in areas like threat inspection, prompt hardening, and governance.

The integration will expand Zscaler’s existing platform capabilities by adding a new, dedicated AI protection layer. This includes AI asset discovery and risk assessment across both public and private AI deployments, automated red teaming with over 5,000 domain-specific attack simulations, and advanced AI runtime guardrails. Additionally, it enhances AI governance features that enable enterprises to shift from reactive to proactive AI protection.

According to Zscaler, this acquisition comes at a crucial time as AI adoption accelerates globally. With AI-related infrastructure spending projected to surpass $250bn by the end of 2025, organisations face increasing challenges around securing dynamic AI models, large language models (LLMs), and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. Zscaler aims to address these challenges through unified AI lifecycle protection and compliance support.

Zscaler CEO, chairman, and founder Jay Chaudhry said, “Today marks an important step in advancing Zscaler’s role as the trusted partner helping organizations securely adopt AI. AI is creating enormous value, but its full potential can only be realized when it can be secured. By combining SPLX’s technology with the intelligence of the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange and its native data protection that classifies, governs, and prevents loss of sensitive data across prompts, models, and outputs, Zscaler will secure the entire AI lifecycle on one platform. This will strengthen our industry leadership and give customers the confidence to safely embrace AI.”

SPLX CEO and co-founder Kristian Kamber said, “Zscaler and SPLX share a vision to confront the vast new attack surface created by rapidly expanding AI infrastructure investments. By joining forces, we’ll bring our innovation to one of the most trusted security platforms in the world, securing AI innovation at the speed organizations are adopting it.”
