Prove and Backbase, an AI-powered banking platform, have formed a strategic partnership to help financial institutions in the United States improve customer onboarding and enhance fraud prevention.

The partnership is designed to tackle two persistent challenges in digital banking: reducing fraud risk and overcoming onboarding friction. By embedding Prove’s Pre-Fill® technology into the Backbase platform, banks and credit unions will be able to accelerate account opening and digital lending while offering a smoother customer journey.

Prove specialises in digital identity verification, using its proprietary Identity Graph to authenticate individuals through their mobile devices and credentials. Backbase, meanwhile, is recognised as the first AI-powered banking platform, providing financial institutions with digital tools to modernise customer engagement and drive efficiency.

Through this collaboration, Prove’s Pre-Fill solution will be integrated directly into Backbase’s banking ecosystem. With a customer’s consent, Prove can instantly pre-populate forms with verified data such as Social Security numbers, names, addresses, and dates of birth using only a mobile phone number. This reduces manual entry, minimises errors, and helps prevent application abandonment.

The combined solution is also aimed at enhancing security at the initial point of interaction. Prove’s Identity Graph technology verifies customer information in real time, filtering out fraudulent actors while ensuring legitimate customers experience a streamlined journey. Financial institutions are expected to benefit from faster processing times, fewer manual reviews, and increased operational efficiency.

Additional benefits include improved customer trust, higher conversion rates, and enhanced risk controls through the application of Prove’s Global Fraud Policy. The integrated solution is already available across the United States, with the initial focus on account opening and onboarding. Future use cases are expected to expand into other areas of digital banking.
