Backslash Security, a cybersecurity company focused on protecting AI-driven software development, has secured fresh funding of $19m.
The company has raised $19m in a Series A round led by KOMPAS VC, with participation from Maniv, Artofin Venture Capital, and existing investors StageOne Ventures and First Rays Capital.
The investment follows an $8m seed round and comes amid what Backslash describes as a rapid shift from AI-assisted coding to so-called “vibe coding”, where autonomous AI agents generate, modify and deploy code with limited human intervention.
Founded to address emerging risks in AI-native development environments, Backslash provides a security platform designed specifically for enterprises embedding AI coding agents into their workflows.
As tools such as Cursor, Claude Code and GitHub CoPilot become increasingly common in corporate development teams, security leaders are grappling with reduced visibility over how software is written and altered. According to a recent Gartner® report, “by 2028, 40% of new enterprise production software will be created with vibe coding techniques and tools.”
Backslash says its platform is built to secure the entire AI-driven development stack, rather than focusing on isolated components. It covers integrated developer environments (IDEs), AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, prompt workflows, governance controls and large language models (LLMs). The company argues that traditional point solutions and general AI security tools lack the contextual awareness required to manage this new attack surface.
The new capital will be used to expand Backslash’s R&D capabilities, strengthen its operational footprint, enhance its platform functionality and scale its go-to-market presence across the United States and Europe, where enterprise demand for AI security controls is rising.
Alongside the funding, Backslash has appointed Ron Zoran, former Chief Revenue Officer at CyberArk, to its board of directors as an independent member. The company said his experience in scaling cybersecurity businesses would support its next phase of growth.
KOMPAS VC partner Talia Rafaeli said, “AI has fundamentally changed how software is built regardless of industry, and is dramatically increasing security risk. Backslash’s purpose-built platform is addressing this shift with a new security model designed for AI-driven development from day one.”
Maniv general partner Nate Jaret added, “AI-native coding is already a reality in many organizations, even in industrial companies where mission-critical software interacts with the physical world and the stakes are higher. Security and oversight will need to be woven into the fabric of how these tools are deployed,” he added. “We’ve been impressed by the deep experience Backslash brings to the table as they help their customers ensure that vibe coding risk is understood and mitigated.”
Backslash co-founder and CEO Shahar Man said, “We’ve passed the point of no return on how enterprise software is being composed. Organizations are no longer sitting on the fence – they are propelled by both boardroom pressures to adopt AI for greater efficiency and speed, and by developers who embrace the massive benefits of using vibe coding.
“But security cannot and should not be left behind. By providing quick, broad visibility and deep protection capabilities for the entire stack, we enable our customers to gain confidence in the inevitable journey towards vibe coding, and do so without putting their infrastructure and applications at risk. We are thrilled to partner with KOMPAS VC, Maniv, and Artofin for the next phase of Backslash’s journey as we rise to address this growing need.”
