DBS Hong Kong, Know Your Customer enhance SME digital onboarding

DBS Bank (Hong Kong) has partnered with Know Your Customer, a RegTech firm specialising in automated business verification and corporate KYC solutions.

The collaboration aims to support DBS Hong Kong’s ongoing digital banking transformation by improving the onboarding experience for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Traditional SME onboarding often involves time-consuming and manual processes, particularly when verifying corporate structures and beneficial ownership. By introducing automation and advanced verification capabilities, the partnership is designed to streamline these procedures and reduce friction for business customers opening accounts.

Through the collaboration, DBS Hong Kong will integrate Know Your Customer’s digital compliance platform to automate key elements of its business KYC workflow. The platform enables real-time access to business verification data, including instant retrieval of official company documents and automated mapping of complex ultimate beneficial ownership (UBO) structures across more than 140 jurisdictions. This capability allows the bank to verify corporate ownership networks more efficiently while maintaining strong compliance standards.

Know Your Customer provides RegTech solutions designed to help financial institutions manage corporate onboarding and due diligence requirements. Its platform combines global corporate registry data with artificial intelligence to automate business verification processes, helping banks accelerate compliance checks while reducing manual workloads. The system is widely used by financial institutions looking to modernise business KYC and customer due diligence processes.

For DBS Hong Kong, the integration of AI-powered verification technology is expected to significantly improve operational efficiency in SME banking. By automating processes that traditionally required extensive manual review, the bank aims to shorten onboarding timelines and deliver a faster and more seamless experience for business clients opening accounts digitally.

The initiative also reflects broader trends within Hong Kong’s SME sector, where digital adoption is increasing rapidly. According to DBS Hong Kong’s recent SME survey, more than 70% of SMEs in the region are already integrating or exploring artificial intelligence and digital technologies within their operations. In recognition of its wider digital transformation strategy, DBS Hong Kong was named Asia’s Best Digital Bank in 2025 by Euromoney.
