Wallarm, a cybersecurity company specialising in API and AI security, has raised $55m in a Series C funding round to expand its next-generation API protection offering.
The investment will support the development and deployment of Wallarm’s Security Edge platform, which aims to deliver powerful API protection without the usual complexity or cost. The round brings in significant capital as Wallarm positions itself to meet increasing enterprise demand for edge-based security solutions.
Founded to address the growing vulnerabilities in API infrastructure, Wallarm provides tools to help organisations defend against sophisticated attacks targeting APIs. Its platform enables real-time traffic visibility, mutual TLS (mTLS) encryption, multi-cloud high availability, and simplified deployment processes.
The new capital will be used to scale Wallarm’s Security Edge platform, which offers hosted, managed, and simplified API protection. It is designed to operate with minimal latency and cost, allowing for geographically distributed node placement directly at the API edge. This enables faster detection and response to threats, operational observability, and ensures always-on availability even across cloud outages.
Wallarm’s latest innovation includes a Free API Security Tier, providing startups and small teams with enterprise-grade protection for up to 500,000 API requests per month at no cost. This move aligns with the company’s goal of broadening accessibility to robust API protection, particularly for smaller development teams that often lack the resources of large enterprises.
Wallarm CEO Ivan Novikov said, “Security Edge is all about delivering protection where it matters most, at the API edge, without compromise. API protection today is broken—not because the tools aren’t powerful, but because they’re painful to implement. Security Edge fixes that. It gives companies effective API security that works with their architecture, not against it.”
