Datadog has appointed John Trapani as its new field CTO for financial services, marking a strategic move to strengthen its work with global FinServ clients.
In this newly created role, he will oversee collaboration across Datadog’s sales, product and marketing teams to support a unified observability strategy within the financial services sector.
Datadog is widely recognised for its cloud-native monitoring, observability and security capabilities, offering organisations an integrated view of their application performance, infrastructure, logs, user experience and risk environment. The company continues to expand its platform to meet the demands of complex enterprise environments undergoing digital transformation.
Trapani joins the company as field CTO for financial services, bringing decades of engineering and technology leadership experience to the role. His remit will focus on strengthening Datadog’s strategic engagement with financial institutions as they accelerate modernisation and expand their adoption of AI, cloud services and unified observability tools.
He brings over 35 years of experience across software development, engineering leadership and financial services technology. Before joining Datadog, Trapani was industry leader of financial services at Appian Corporation. Earlier in his career, he spent more than 20 years at Fitch Ratings, where he led application development teams and later served as head of engineering and managing director responsible for the organisation’s core analytical platforms.
Datadog VP of product solutions architecture and field CTO teams Eugene Kovnatsky said, “John’s deep experience developing new products, features and functionality that support FinServ clients will be critical for Datadog as we continue to tailor our observability, security and AI capabilities for our global customers. John’s long track record of success has made him a trusted advisor to global banking, capital market and market infrastructure clients.”
Trapani said, “The financial services industry is constantly evolving. That’s become truer than ever as AI projects proliferate and companies continue to modernize. I look forward to working with Datadog’s technical and go-to-market teams to guide customers on their digital transformation journeys, working to resolve their pain points and realize value from their investments in a unified observability and security platform.”
