Diginex appoints Lorenzo Romano as deputy chairman

Diginex Limited, a Nasdaq-listed Sustainability RegTech and data management provider, has appointed Lorenzo Romano as deputy chairman, strengthening its governance framework as it looks to capitalise on rapid growth across the global sustainability RegTech market.

The company develops technology-driven solutions designed to help organisations manage ESG data, regulatory reporting and sustainability disclosures. Diginex focuses on enabling businesses to respond to increasing regulatory pressure through verifiable data, enhanced transparency and AI-enabled compliance tools, positioning itself at the intersection of sustainability, data intelligence and RegTech innovation.

Romano joined Diginex earlier this year as head of M&A and strategic development, where he has played a central role in shaping the company’s acquisition strategy. In this position, he has been responsible for identifying high-potential opportunities across the RegTech and data intelligence ecosystem, while also supporting post-acquisition integration efforts following the addition of Matter DK ApS to the group.

Prior to joining Diginex, Romano built a career spanning more than two decades across private banking, investment advisory, corporate development and strategy. Most recently, he served as head of private banking for Geneva at EFG Bank. Before that, he held senior leadership positions at Syz Bank, part of the Syz Group, including head of Europe, Middle East and Eastern Europe, advising high-net-worth individuals, family offices and institutions on complex transactions, governance structures and long-term value creation.

Beyond his banking background, Romano has led international teams through periods of transformation and growth, experience that Diginex is seeking to leverage as it expands its technology portfolio and advances a targeted acquisition programme. Recent memoranda of understanding with Matter and Plan A align with the company’s ambition to strengthen capabilities in ESG reporting, supply chain transparency and AI-driven compliance solutions.

In his expanded role as deputy chairman, Romano will work closely with the board and senior management team to enhance corporate governance, support strategic planning and continue driving the company’s M&A agenda. His appointment comes as regulatory frameworks such as the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive gain momentum, increasing demand for specialised sustainability RegTech platforms globally.

“Lorenzo’s strategic insight and operational acumen have already proven invaluable, and his appointment as Deputy Chairman reflects our commitment to robust leadership as we accelerate growth and deliver greater value to stakeholders.” Diginex chairman and founder Miles Pelham said. “Diginex is strategically poised to lead in the booming sustainability RegTech sector, where innovative tools are essential for navigating increasingly stringent global regulations.”
