Summary

The British Business Bank aims to ensure that finance markets for smaller UK businesses work more effectively, and thus allow smaller enterprises to grow and build the UK’s economic activity.

They provides their services to companies or individuals who either want to start a new business, or grow an existing one to the next level. The bank does not lend or invest directly and instead work alongside over 80 partners which include banks and venture capital funds, among others.

The bank has a couple of major funds in operation for investments, the Midlands Engine Investment Fund and the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund, established in 2016 and 2017 and valued at £250m and £400m, respectively.
