Okta strengthens identity security with Axiom Security deal

Okta

Okta, an identity and access management provider, has announced plans to acquire Axiom Security, a Tel Aviv-based firm specialising in cloud-native, identity-centric PAM solutions.

The acquisition aims to expand Okta Privileged Access by integrating Axiom’s capabilities into its platform, providing organisations with a stronger identity security fabric for managing privileged access across sensitive environments. While the financial terms remain undisclosed, the deal is expected to close in September.

Okta offers secure identity management and single sign-on services for businesses worldwide, helping organisations manage access across multiple cloud and on-premises systems. Axiom Security, founded by Itay Mesika and Ilan Dardik, delivers advanced PAM capabilities, including Just-in-Time (JIT) access, automated approval workflows, and deep coverage for critical infrastructure like databases and Kubernetes.

The integration will give Okta customers a single control plane for managing privileged access across on-prem and multi-cloud environments. Axiom’s technology will bring additional security controls, AI-based connector capabilities, and enhanced auditing features to Okta’s platform. These enhancements are especially critical as enterprises increasingly adopt AI tools, bringing new risks from non-human identities and automated agents.

Okta said the combined solution will provide unified administration, time-limited access permissions to reduce risks, and AI-powered automation for managing complex access scenarios. These upgrades aim to improve security posture while reducing operational burdens.

The announcement comes as Okta highlights the growing importance of an identity security fabric—a centralised architecture for securing all identities, whether human or AI-driven, across all resources. Only 10% of organisations currently have a robust roadmap for managing non-human identities, according to Okta’s recent survey, underscoring the need for modern PAM solutions.

Okta said the deal reflects its ongoing mission to provide end-to-end identity security and its commitment to helping businesses defend against evolving cyber threats.
