Palo Alto buys Chronosphere to power AI-era resilience

Palo Alto

Palo Alto Networks has agreed to acquire Chronosphere, an observability platform engineered to support large-scale, cloud-native and AI-driven digital environments.

The acquisition supports Palo Alto Networks’ strategy to meet the escalating data requirements of the AI era. As organisations deploy increasingly complex applications and AI workloads, they require real-time observability and constant operational resilience.

Palo Alto Networks provides cybersecurity technologies used by global enterprises to secure applications, data, and infrastructure. Its expanding portfolio includes AI-powered security platforms and tools designed to protect modern digital ecosystems through automation, real-time threat detection, and advanced intelligence capabilities.

Chronosphere operates a next-generation observability platform designed for scale, helping large enterprises and AI-native organisations monitor vast volumes of cloud and application data in real time. Its architecture offers both cost efficiency and high resilience, making it suited to the needs of AI workloads, latency-sensitive systems, and organisations seeking continuous uptime.

Once integrated, Chronosphere’s optimised observability engine will be combined with Palo Alto Networks’ AgentiX technology. This merger is expected to reshape the observability landscape, moving it beyond traditional dashboards into autonomous, agentic remediation.

By applying AI agents to the data processed within Chronosphere, customers will be able to detect, investigate and resolve issues automatically, achieving deeper insight across security and performance data at petabyte scale.

The companies stated the combined platform will support leading AI-native organisations, including cloud-first companies running some of the world’s most advanced LLM workloads. Chronosphere’s data ingestion model is expected to deliver significant cost efficiencies for customers, while paving the way for real-time decision-making across increasingly complex digital environments.

Palo Alto Networks chairman and CEO Nikesh Arora said, “The foundational requirement for every modern AI data center is constant uptime and resilience, which demands real-time, always-on observability delivered at the right cost. Chronosphere was built to scale for the data demands of the AI era from day one, which is why it is chosen by leading AI-native and born-in-the-cloud organizations. And once we leverage AgentiX with Chronosphere, we will take observability from simple dashboards to real-time, agentic remediation. We are excited to not just enter this space, but to disrupt it.”

Chronosphere co-founder and CEO Martin Mao said, “We founded Chronosphere to provide scalable resiliency for the world’s largest digital organizations. Palo Alto Networks is the perfect strategic partner for our customers, partners, and employees.

“It allows us to combine our disruptive observability platform with the world’s best security company, accelerating our momentum in solving the most complex data and resiliency challenges. Together, we look forward to continuing to partner with industry-leading cloud and AI-native customers across the world on their mission-critical observability and security needs.”
