Recognize invests in cybersecurity firm SRA

Recognize has made a strategic investment in SRA, a global cybersecurity company focused on advisory and managed security services. The deal marks SRA’s first institutional equity investment.

The investment, whose financial terms were not disclosed, was made by Recognize to accelerate SRA’s expansion across its advisory, managed security, and software offerings. The firm, which focuses on supporting next-generation digital services businesses, said this partnership aligns with its broader strategy of backing innovative technology providers.

Founded over 15 years ago and headquartered in Philadelphia, SRA employs more than 300 cybersecurity professionals across the U.S., Ireland, and Australia. The company has built a reputation as a trusted partner for enterprise security leaders, offering deep expertise in cyber advisory, threat detection, and managed monitoring. SRA is also known for developing proprietary software platforms such as VECTR, a purple team management tool, and SCALR, designed for security operations and data management.

SRA plans to use Recognize’s investment to strengthen its consulting and managed services while expanding its software product development. The company, a member of the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association, aims to enhance its capacity to help clients manage complex cyber risks and evolving threats, including those linked to artificial intelligence.

SRA co-founders Tim Wainwright and Chris Salerno will continue leading the firm as CEO and COO respectively, guiding its next phase of growth and innovation.

SRA CEO Tim Wainwright said, “We are fortunate to find a partner in Recognize who aligns with our vision to continue to grow our strengths in cybersecurity consulting, managed services, and software. This is a new and exciting chapter after our first successful 15 years serving great clients. We look forward to continuing to provide a premium experience to our clients and team members alike.”

Recognize co-founder and managing partner Charles Phillips commented, “Our investment in SRA builds on our strategy of backing next generation digital services businesses. SRA’s IP-embedded services, leverage as a Microsoft Intelligent Security Association member, and dynamic leadership team have cemented the Company as a differentiated provider in an environment that’s rapidly changing due to the increase in AI-driven threats. Cybersecurity continues to be a core pillar of our digital services strategy, and we are extremely excited to partner with Tim, Chris, and the entire SRA team in the next phase of their growth trajectory.”

SRA co-founder and COO Chris Salerno added, “We are excited Recognize is joining us in furthering our mission to protect our clients and their customers while building and training the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. We look forward to the opportunity to innovate together and continue providing critical cybersecurity services to our clients.”
