Tenzai, which specialises in autonomous penetration testing powered by agentic AI, has emerged from stealth with a record-breaking $75m seed round.
The investment, one of the largest known seed rounds in the cybersecurity sector, was led by Greylock Partners, Battery Ventures, and Lux Capital, with additional participation from Swish Ventures and several prominent angel investors.
Tenzai is redefining the cybersecurity landscape by developing AI-driven systems capable of continuously testing enterprise software for vulnerabilities. The company’s platform acts as an “AI hacker”, bringing real-time, autonomous penetration testing to meet the pace of modern software development, where over 30% of new code is AI-generated and updates are deployed multiple times a day.
The fresh capital will enable Tenzai to expand its AI research and security teams, strengthen its autonomous offensive capabilities, and grow its commercial presence across North America and Europe. The company is already deploying its technology with leading enterprises in financial services, healthcare, and technology.
Tenzai was founded by cybersecurity veterans Pavel Gurvich, Ariel Zeitlin, Ofri Ziv, Itamar Tal, and Aner Mazur. Gurvich and Zeitlin were previously co-founders of Guardicore, alongside Ziv and Tal as part of the founding team. Guardicore was acquired by Akamai in 2021 for $600m, marking one of Akamai’s largest acquisitions. Mazur previously served as founding CPO at Snyk. Collectively, the founding team brings extensive offensive cyber experience from military intelligence and senior industry roles.
Tenzai CEO Pavel Gurvich said, “Pentesting hasn’t changed much since I was a pentester in high school some 25 years ago. Back then the work was episodic and manual. Today, AI allows us to bring elite, nation-grade offensive capabilities at a scale and speed that were previously impossible. In large enterprises with hundreds of applications that change daily, providing real security assurance is only possible with autonomous AI that can find and fix vulnerabilities at enterprise scale. That’s why we built Tenzai – to bring always-on offensive capabilities so organizations can move fast and stay secure.”
Greylock Partners partner Asheem Chandna said, “AI generated code is creating new cybersecurity risks and challenges for enterprises. We are excited to partner with the exceptionally talented team at Tenzai, on the mission to build the industry’s leading agentic AI penetration testing platform.”
