Visa joins TECH5 to drive digital public infrastructure

Visa

Visa and TECH5, an international provider of biometric and digital identity management technologies, have announced a seven-year strategic partnership aimed at advancing DPI solutions worldwide. The agreement was formalised in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The collaboration seeks to integrate Visa’s payment capabilities with TECH5’s biometric, identity management, and trust infrastructure solutions. A key goal is to develop identity wallets with embedded payment features, supporting secure, scalable, and interoperable digital ecosystems that can serve governments and institutions across multiple markets.

Visa, headquartered in the United States, operates one of the world’s largest digital payment networks, connecting consumers, merchants, financial institutions, and governments in more than 200 countries. TECH5, with offices in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, specialises in identity management and biometrics, providing trusted infrastructure technologies for digital identity systems and national-level projects.

As part of the partnership, Visa will contribute funding toward joint projects, offer strategic support to TECH5’s business development initiatives, and provide guidance on engaging with financial institutions. The companies will also align on a joint sales, business development, and marketing framework to coordinate their partnership efforts.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen the foundations of DPI by prioritising interoperability, trust, and inclusivity across digital ecosystems. Both firms see the initiative as a way to address the evolving needs of governments and institutions that are investing in secure and inclusive digital infrastructures adaptable to different regulatory and market contexts.

TECH5 co-founder and CEO Machiel van der Harst said, “Our collaboration with Visa represents a significant step in broadening the reach and applicability of TECH5’s DPI technologies. By combining our identity and biometric expertise with Visa’s global payment network and resources, we are positioned to address the evolving needs of governments and institutions seeking secure and inclusive digital infrastructure.”

Visa vice president and head of government solutions for the CEMEA region Dr. Svyatoslav Senyuta said, “At Visa, we believe that secure, inclusive, and scalable digital identity is foundational to the future of payments. Our partnership with TECH5 reflects our commitment to advancing Digital Public Infrastructure globally. By combining TECH5’s biometric and identity innovations with Visa’s trusted payment technologies, we aim to empower governments and institutions to drive financial inclusion and digital trust at scale.”
