Themis has announced the launch of AI Investigator, an LLM-driven due diligence platform designed to change how organisations detect and prevent financial crime.
The launch comes in response to growing demands for faster and more accessible compliance tools. Traditional due diligence processes often take days or weeks to complete, leaving organisations struggling to keep pace with evolving risks. Themis developed AI Investigator to streamline these checks and make enhanced due diligence widely accessible.
Founded to tackle financial crime across sectors, Themis provides intelligence and technology solutions that help institutions, corporates, professional services, private equity, real estate and government bodies mitigate risk. The firm is recognised for building platforms that blend proprietary data with advanced analytics to expose hidden threats.
AI Investigator leverages generative AI and domain-specific models trained on Themis’ proprietary data to automate investigations. It delivers real-time analysis across ownership structures, adverse media, and regulatory filings. Results are produced in minutes, a vast improvement compared with traditional manual reviews.
The platform features AI-driven investigations through trained agents, behavioural analysis and pattern matching at scale, and a proprietary knowledge base covering indicators across major predicate crime types. This enables it to detect hidden risks and potential links to criminal activity with contextual precision.
Additional benefits include cloud-agnostic deployment, making it compatible across different sectors and technology stacks. Built with input from hundreds of compliance professionals and supported by an Innovate UK grant, the platform has been tailored to meet the needs of both regulated and non-regulated industries.
The announcement comes as Abu Dhabi invests AED 13bn between 2025 and 2027 to strengthen its position as a global AI hub, aiming to become the world leader in AI by 2031. Institutions such as ADGM and Hub71 are central to this vision. Themis’ breakthroughs in proprietary LLMs and agentic AI were accelerated in this ecosystem, making Abu Dhabi the chosen stage for the global launch of AI Investigator.
Themis CEO Dickon Johnstone said, “When we look back in a few years, we’ll wonder how due diligence was ever done without AI. By making checks faster and broader in reach, our AML-trained AI agents turn this into something accessible and instinctive for all. By putting enhanced due diligence into everyone’s hands, we are truly democratising due diligence.”
He added, “That’s how we finally gain the upper hand in the fight against financial crime and stop the deliberate exploitation of people, businesses and the natural world around us by criminals and organised crime groups.”
