Numeral, an AI-powered sales tax compliance platform, has announced fresh funding as it seeks to transform one of the most complex areas of business finance.
The company has raised $35m in a Series B round led by Mayfield, with additional participation from Benchmark, Uncork Capital, Y Combinator, and Mantis. The round brings its total funding to $57m.
Numeral provides an end-to-end automated platform for sales tax compliance, covering everything from nexus detection and registration to filing, remittance, and exemption certificate management. Its service includes an error-free filing guarantee, white glove support, and simple pricing, aiming to simplify an area of compliance that has traditionally been resource-intensive and error-prone.
The new capital will support product innovation, global expansion, and enhanced AI-driven automation capabilities. Numeral already supports compliance across more than 60 countries and works with over 2,000 e-commerce and SaaS brands, including Ridge, Eight Sleep, Graza, Grüns, and Manus.
The firm has seen strong momentum, processing over $5bn in transaction volume, filing 150,000 sales tax returns, and achieving 3.5x year-over-year revenue growth. Demand is being fuelled by increasing regulatory complexity, with over 400 sales tax rate changes reported in the first half of 2025 alone.
Mayfield partner Sri Pangulur said, “Numeral is transforming one of the most painful and error-prone functions in finance—sales tax compliance—by putting it on autopilot. Their AI-first platform eliminates the complexity of managing thousands of constantly shifting tax jurisdictions, enabling modern e-commerce and SaaS businesses to scale with confidence. We’re proud to lead their Series B and back their mission to become the intelligent system of record for global sales tax.”
Numeral co-founder and CEO Sam Ross said, “As operators, we lived the pain of sales tax firsthand: hours lost, filings missed, and constant second-guessing. We built Numeral to eliminate that friction entirely. This funding allows us to keep pushing the boundaries of what automation can do, so finance teams can focus on driving the business forward, not deciphering tax codes.”
Ridge CFO Avi Golan added, “Kudos to the Numeral team. They’ve built an incredible platform and keep Ridge compliant across the country. It’s been a breath of fresh air, and I can’t believe we didn’t migrate sooner.”
The Series B follows a $4m seed round backed by Y Combinator and Uncork Capital, and an $18m Series A led by Benchmark Capital earlier this year. Together, these financings bring Numeral’s total funding to $57m as it continues its mission to simplify sales tax compliance globally.
