Sheffield-based cybersecurity firm Sitehop, which develops quantum-resilient encryption systems for high-performance networks, has raised £7.5m in new funding.
The investment round was led by Northern Gritstone, with participation from existing backers Amadeus Capital Partners, Manta Ray, Mercia Ventures, and NPIF – Mercia Equity Finance, which is managed by Mercia as part of the first Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (NPIF). The latest funding brings Sitehop’s total investment to £13.5m.
Founded by Melissa Chambers and Ben Harper, Sitehop is pioneering hardware-based encryption through its SAFEseries™ technology. Unlike traditional software-based solutions that can slow data transfers and increase latency, Sitehop’s hardware encryption enables ultra-low latency, high-speed data protection that is resistant to emerging quantum threats. The company also claims that its approach reduces energy consumption by up to 90% compared to conventional systems.
