LevelBlue has announced its plan to acquire Cybereason, a cybersecurity firm renowned for its advanced XDR platform, elite threat intelligence expertise, and DFIR capabilities.
The acquisition is a strategic move designed to expand LevelBlue’s global leadership in managed detection and response (MDR), incident response, and threat intelligence. By integrating Cybereason’s XDR and DFIR expertise with LevelBlue’s AI-powered MDR platform, the deal aims to enhance the speed and accuracy of cyber threat detection, streamline operations, and reduce risk for clients worldwide. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
LevelBlue provides AI-driven cybersecurity services that help enterprises transition from reactive defence to proactive resilience. Its offerings cover MDR, incident response, and threat intelligence across sectors and geographies. The company has grown rapidly through acquisitions and now serves clients ranging from mid-sized enterprises to major global organisations.
Cybereason, meanwhile, is known for its advanced threat detection technology and expert team of researchers and analysts. Its XDR platform integrates endpoint, network, and cloud security to provide unified protection against sophisticated cyberattacks. The company also brings deep experience in digital forensics and incident response, supporting clients in mitigating and investigating breaches.
As part of the acquisition, investors including SoftBank Corp., SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and Liberty Strategic Capital will become shareholders in LevelBlue. This backing underscores investor confidence in LevelBlue’s long-term growth strategy and innovation in next-generation cybersecurity technologies.
In addition, Steven T. Mnuchin, former U.S. Treasury Secretary and managing partner of Liberty Strategic Capital, will join LevelBlue’s board of directors. His appointment brings financial and policy expertise as the company strengthens its role in protecting critical infrastructure globally. Mnuchin said, “Cybersecurity is now inseparable from economic security and national resilience. LevelBlue has rapidly established itself as a leader in integrated managed security services, and I look forward to helping guide its growth at a time when organisations worldwide are seeking trusted partners who understand the complexity of today’s threat landscape. I also want to thank Manish Narula, CEO of Cybereason, for his strong leadership in driving this outcome and propelling Cybereason into its next chapter of growth and innovation.”
LevelBlue CEO and chairman Bob McCullen said, “The addition of Cybereason is a strategic leap forward in our mission to become the most complete cybersecurity partner for our clients and strategic partners. By combining Cybereason’s world-class XDR and DFIR capabilities with our AI-powered MDR and incident response, we can deliver unified protection that’s proactive, scalable, and purpose-built for today’s fast-evolving threats.”
The acquisition also enhances LevelBlue’s service offering with improved endpoint security, world-class DFIR capabilities, and smarter threat intelligence. By integrating Cybereason’s research teams with LevelBlue’s SpiderLabs, clients gain deeper insights into threat actors and attack techniques, supported by actionable intelligence.
Cybereason CEO Manish Narula commented, “Joining LevelBlue marks an exciting new chapter for Cybereason. This acquisition strengthens our collective capabilities across XDR, MDR, offensive security, DFIR, and cybersecurity consulting services, enabling us to unlock additional value for our clients and their counsel and cyber insurance partners globally.”
Shawn Hakl, senior vice president of AT&T Business Product and LevelBlue board member, added, “Cybereason’s strength in XDR and digital forensics is a fantastic added capability that enables us to better serve our customers with deeper threat visibility, faster response, and greater confidence in the face of evolving cyber threats. LevelBlue’s continued investment in advanced capabilities makes it an even more strategic partner for us and the organisations we support.”
The move follows LevelBlue’s recent acquisitions of Trustwave and Stroz Friedberg, reinforcing its ambition to unite top-tier technologies and expertise under one integrated cybersecurity platform.
