Free Cayman workshop explores major AML compliance lapses

AML

A face-to-face workshop in Grand Cayman this November will take a deep dive into some of the most high-profile AML failures in recent years, including those involving Starling Bank and Monzo.

The event, hosted by KYC360, promises to offer participants a comprehensive understanding of what went wrong, why it happened, and the critical lessons financial institutions can apply to strengthen their own AML frameworks.

Taking place at the George Town Yacht Club on 11 November 2025 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm, the free and invitation-only workshop will be led by respected financial crime expert Stephen Platt. Attendees will gain first-hand insights into the causes and consequences of major compliance failures, exploring how weak governance, ineffective monitoring, and procedural gaps can lead to severe regulatory and reputational damage.

KYC360 said the session aims to move beyond case studies and deliver actionable strategies that attendees can take back to their organisations. Participants will learn to identify the root causes of AML breaches, understand the full extent of their impact, and implement practical steps to prevent similar issues from occurring within their own compliance programmes.

In addition to the workshop, KYC360 will also unveil two major innovations designed to enhance compliance and training standards. The first is its Customer Lifecycle Management (CLM) solution, which streamlines time-consuming compliance tasks such as periodic reviews. The platform offers a dynamic, real-time view of customer risk, enabling compliance teams to act swiftly while improving the customer experience through automation and efficiency.

The second announcement will be the launch of the KYC360 Academy, a new open-access platform offering one of the most comprehensive collections of Anti-Money Laundering courses available. The Academy is designed to help organisations upskill their teams and embed compliance best practices across all levels of operation, setting a new benchmark for AML training accessibility.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with peers from across the financial services industry while enjoying a light buffet lunch, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available.

As space is limited, KYC360 is encouraging interested professionals to register early to secure their place.

This event underscores KYC360’s ongoing commitment to raising compliance standards through education, technology, and collaboration. By bringing professionals together in an interactive setting, the workshop aims to turn past compliance failures into future operational strengths.
