Veeam Software has announced plans to acquire Securiti AI, a prominent provider of DSPM and AI trust solutions, in a deal valued at $1.725bn.
The acquisition marks a significant step in combining Veeam’s strength in data protection with Securiti AI’s leadership in privacy, governance, and data intelligence.
The acquisition aims to unify data resilience with DSPM, privacy, governance, and AI trust across production and secondary data. By bringing together these capabilities, Veeam and Securiti AI plan to provide enterprises with a single control plane for their entire data estate, enabling full visibility, precision recovery, and safe AI innovation. The deal eliminates the challenge of managing fragmented data across apps, clouds, SaaS, endpoints, and backups, empowering CIOs, CISOs, and CDOs to secure and harness their data with minimal downtime.
Founded in 2006, Veeam Software provides data backup, recovery, and protection solutions for hybrid and multi-cloud environments. It is recognised as the #1 global leader in data resilience, serving over 450,000 customers worldwide. Securiti AI, on the other hand, is a pioneer in the Data Command Center, a platform powered by a unique knowledge graph that unifies data intelligence and security controls across hybrid multi-cloud environments. Its platform incorporates an agentic AI framework that automates key data security and intelligence tasks, while its Gencore AI module enables secure enterprise AI search.
The combination of Veeam and Securiti AI comes at a time when organisations struggle to manage unstructured data and growing cyber risks. Studies show that unstructured data—emails, documents, and customer interactions—makes up as much as 90% of enterprise data. Many AI initiatives fail due to issues such as poor data accuracy, unclear lineage, and privacy concerns. The merger seeks to bridge these challenges by providing a unified command centre that integrates data protection, governance, and security.
Following the completion of the acquisition, Securiti AI CEO Rehan Jalil will join Veeam as president of security and AI. Jalil brings a strong entrepreneurial track record, having founded and led several successful companies, including Elastica and WiChorus, both acquired by major technology firms.
Veeam CEO Anand Eswaran said, “We’ve entered a new era for data. It’s no longer about just protecting data from cyber threats and unforeseen disasters; it’s also about identifying all your data, ensuring it’s governed and trusted to power AI transparently. This is the single most critical factor in failed AI initiatives. By combining the market-leading strengths of Veeam and Securiti AI, we bring those capabilities together in a single solution to help customers understand, secure, recover, and rollback, and unleash their data to drive new business value.”
Securiti AI CEO Rehan Jalil said, “Enterprise AI is simply not possible without data security. Securiti AI solves that and enables the safe use of data and AI. Bringing together our unique capabilities with Veeam, the global leader in data resilience, creates a new value proposition for customers with one data command centre delivering data resilience, DSPM, privacy, governance, and AI trust for your entire data estate. Veeam’s global reach and innovation, combined with our technology and intelligence, will provide customers with unmatched business resilience and security to fully unlock the benefits of AI.”
GigaOm senior analyst Paul Stringfellow said, “The integration of Securiti AI’s advanced data security platform with Veeam’s robust data resilience platform represents an evolution in how organisations approach protection and governance of their information in an AI-driven landscape. Together, these platforms bridge the gap between security, governance, compliance, and resilience, enabling organisations to achieve a comprehensive, context-rich understanding of their data.”
