Anrok raises $55m to boost AI tax automation

Anrok, a global sales tax compliance platform powering digital-first businesses, has raised $55m in a Series C funding round.

The investment was led by Spark Capital, with participation from Sapphire Ventures, and existing backers Khosla Ventures, Sequoia Capital, and Index Ventures.

The new funding brings Anrok’s total capital raised to more than $100m, marking a major milestone in its growth journey.

Founded in 2020 and headquartered in San Francisco, Anrok helps finance teams automate complex global tax compliance processes. The platform combines artificial intelligence with human expertise to simplify compliance with VAT, GST, and sales tax across more than 100 jurisdictions. Companies such as Anthropic, Cursor, and Notion use Anrok’s services to save up to 90% of time spent on sales tax compliance each month.

Anrok’s technology is built to address a growing global challenge as tax regulations evolve and multiply. The company’s analysis of over 32 million monthly transactions found that filing obligations can increase 47-fold as businesses scale from $1m to $50m in annual revenue, while the percentage of revenue subject to taxation more than doubles. Anrok’s AI-native approach enables businesses to manage this increasing complexity effectively while maintaining audit readiness.

The newly secured funds will accelerate Anrok’s product development and research efforts, particularly in expanding its AI-powered capabilities.

Spark Capital general partner Yasmin Razavi said, “Global sales tax compliance has been broken for too long – it’s one of those problems that gets exponentially harder as companies scale.

“Anrok has built the first solution that actually scales with modern businesses. They understand that commerce is global – you need to deeply understand local requirements to support modern commerce. We’re excited to back this team as they become essential infrastructure for global businesses.”

Anrok CEO and co-founder Michelle Valentine added, “Anrok powers compliance for some of the fastest growing AI companies worldwide.

“We’re building the tax infrastructure that can keep up with the pace and scale of their demand, and allow customers to focus on growing their business across borders.”
