LexisNexis launches enhanced IDVerse for deepfake detection

LexisNexis

LexisNexis Risk Solutions has launched an enhanced version of LexisNexis IDVerse, expanding its capabilities in document authentication and biometric verification.

The new version of IDVerse has been introduced in response to the rapid rise of deepfake technology and synthetic identity fraud, which is increasingly being used to bypass traditional onboarding controls. As generative AI tools become more accessible, fraudsters are exploiting weaknesses in legacy identity verification processes, forcing organisations to rethink how they balance security, speed and customer experience.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions supports banks, FinTechs and digital platforms by helping them assess risk, prevent fraud and meet compliance obligations across the customer lifecycle. Its technology is widely used to support onboarding, payments, account protection and regulatory compliance, enabling organisations to make informed decisions while maintaining trust and transparency.

The upgraded IDVerse platform delivers next-generation document and biometric verification designed to identify sophisticated fraud attempts while allowing legitimate users to onboard more quickly. The solution combines advanced document authentication with biometric intelligence to verify identities in real time, strengthening defences against manipulated documents, AI-generated imagery and impersonation attacks.

Key enhancements include a new conceal mode, which removes the user’s image from the screen during selfie capture to encourage more natural behaviour. Expressionless authentication uses advanced depth perception models to remove the need for users to smile, improving accessibility for individuals with disabilities while maintaining high accuracy. Document liveness introduces video-based capture to prevent the injection of AI-generated or altered images, while faster capture times reduce the onboarding journey from six steps to three and cut average capture time from 12 seconds to near-instant results.

These improvements are designed to address industry reliance on fragmented identity tools, such as separate systems for device intelligence, behavioural analysis and verification. Such fragmentation can introduce security gaps, increase operational costs and add friction for genuine customers, undermining both fraud prevention and user experience.

By consolidating these capabilities into a single platform, the updated IDVerse aims to deliver stronger fraud detection alongside a more intuitive and seamless onboarding process, supporting organisations as they respond to increasingly sophisticated identity threats.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions global head of fraud and identity Kimberly Sutherland said, “Fraudsters innovate with speed and precision. Organizations can have both strong defenses and a seamless customer experience,” and added, “This enhanced version of IDVerse delivers both. It enables efficient onboarding, sharper fraud detection and renewed trust at every stage of the customer lifecycle. We integrate innovative deepfake defenses and a more intuitive user experience, so organizations gain stronger protection without adding barriers for legitimate users.”
