Google Cloud and Wiz unite to tackle AI-era cyber threats

Wiz

Google, has completed its acquisition of Wiz, a leading cloud and AI security platform headquartered in New York.

The acquisition represents a significant strategic investment by Google Cloud in strengthening its cloud security capabilities, enabling organisations to build quickly and securely across any cloud or AI platform.

Wiz will join Google Cloud while retaining its brand identity and continuing its commitment to securing customers across all cloud environments.

Google Cloud is the cloud computing division of Google LLC, offering a suite of infrastructure, data analytics, and AI services to businesses and governments worldwide. The division has established itself as a leader in cloud infrastructure and AI-powered security operations, including threat intelligence tools.

Wiz is a fast-growing cloud and AI security company that delivers an easy-to-use security platform with deep expertise across cloud environments and code. Its platform connects to all major clouds, helping organisations prevent and respond to cybersecurity incidents at scale.

Together, the two companies will provide a unified security platform designed to improve the speed at which organisations can detect, prevent, and respond to threats. The combined offering will help businesses stay ahead of emerging threats generated using AI models, protect AI models themselves from attack, and use AI to help security professionals identify threats more effectively. The platform will deliver a consistent set of tools, processes, and policies across all major cloud environments, covering every layer from code to cloud to runtime.

The deal is also expected to accelerate the adoption of multicloud security, enhancing companies’ ability to operate across multiple cloud environments and further driving innovation in cloud computing and AI applications. Enterprises and government agencies will be better positioned to improve how security is designed, operated, and automated — scaling cybersecurity teams while reducing the cost of implementing and managing security controls. Small businesses, which frequently lack the expertise and resources to defend against sophisticated cyberthreats, are also expected to benefit from the combined platform’s capabilities.

In line with Google Cloud’s commitment to openness, Wiz products will continue to operate and remain available across all major cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud. Wiz will also continue to be offered through a range of partner security solutions. Google Cloud will additionally maintain broad customer choice through partner security solutions available via the Google Cloud Marketplace.
