Quantum Bridge raises $8m to counter quantum cyber threats

Quantum Bridge Technologies has closed an $8m Series A funding round to accelerate its global expansion as organisations race to secure critical systems against quantum computing threats.

The round was led by Primo Capital SGR, with participation from a global syndicate including Wayra (Telefónica), Cadenza VC, Club degli Investitori angels, HPE, and Bacchus Venture Capital. Combined with earlier backing from Alumni Ventures and the University of Toronto, the company’s total capital raised now stands at $16m.

Quantum Bridge’s technology centres on its patented Distributed Symmetric Key Establishment (DSKE) protocol, which allows organisations to generate, distribute, and manage symmetric keys via a decentralised architecture. The approach eliminates single points of failure, enhances scalability, and bolsters long-term cryptographic resilience against the vulnerabilities that quantum computing could expose in today’s encryption standards.

The company’s platform is designed to integrate with existing infrastructure across vendors and security layers — from optical encryptors to application-level systems — without requiring organisations to overhaul current operations. By bridging defence-grade cryptography with commercial deployability, the company aims to make quantum-safe migration achievable at scale across financial institutions, telecoms, governments, and defence sectors.

Primo Capital SGR investment professional Mara Attardi said, “Leading this round represents a defining milestone for Primo Capital as we establish our footprint in the quantum technology landscape — a sector we view as the cornerstone of digital resilience for the coming decade. Quantum Bridge immediately stood out for the versatility of its architecture, but it was the team that clinched our conviction. The CEO possesses that rare, dual-threat leadership: the deep academic rigor required to build cutting-edge tech and the commercial acumen to navigate the complexities of global institutional markets. This is a team that doesn’t just understand the quantum future; they have built the bridge to reach it today.”

Quantum Bridge Technologies co-founder and CEO Mattia Montagna said, “National security can’t wait for perfect conditions. We build quantum-safe systems that work inside real networks today — systems designed to keep protecting sovereign communications as the threat landscape evolves. This funding means we can meet more organizations where they are, and get them protected faster.”
