Discern raises $13m as alert overload strains teams

Discern

Discern Security, a firm reshaping cybersecurity posture through proactive, agent-driven tuning of security controls, has closed a $13m Series A round to scale its agentic platform.

The round was led by Forgepoint Capital, alongside First Rays Ventures, Growth Enjin Partners, Vela Ventures and a group of angel investors. The capital will be channelled into the growth and adoption of the Discern Security Loop, an agentic platform built to help enterprises constantly assess and strengthen the security controls they already own.

The raise arrives at a moment when businesses want AI that supports security professionals instead of substituting for them. Teams are juggling more tools and more findings than at any point before, and while AI is surfacing vulnerabilities at record pace, the deluge of alerts it generates risks swamping departments that are already stretched thin.

Discern offers an AI-native security workspace that pulls together data from across a customer’s environment to drive its Security Loop. Through a blend of reusable AI Skills, intelligent agents and workflows approved by humans, the platform pinpoints the most consequential control gaps, ranks remediation according to business context and orchestrates action between security, IT and compliance functions. Every completed cycle bolsters posture and hands leaders quantifiable proof of progress.

Rather than halting at alerts or ticket creation, the platform links findings to the controls, assets and compliance obligations beneath them. This allows firms to automate repetitive analysis, evidence measurable improvement and convert technical findings into board-ready reporting mapped to frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.

With the fresh capital, Discern intends to expand its engineering and product headcount, broaden its catalogue of AI Skills and autonomous capabilities, and keep helping organisations shift cybersecurity from a reactive function into a measurable driving force.

Discern Security founder and CEO Sai Venkataraman said, “Our data shows that customers use less than 25% of the features of the security products they buy. With our agentic loops, we can at least double tool utilization for our customers.”
