Edge teams up with Socure to boost lender screening

EDGE, the cashflow bureau that helps lenders convert bank transaction data into explainable, machine learning-based scores and attributes for lending and rental screening, has announced a partnership with Socure, a provider of AI-native trust infrastructure for identity intelligence and risk decisions.

Under the partnership, EDGE Screen will combine Socure’s identity and fraud detection signals with EDGE’s cashflow bureau intelligence, creating a single top-of-funnel screening tool that does not rely on bank authentication. The joint offering is designed to let lenders assess consumers sooner in the process, giving them broader insight into financial behaviour, identity confidence and fraud exposure.

Beyond understanding an applicant’s financial health, consumer lenders also need confidence in identity to determine which leads are likely to satisfy underwriting requirements. According to the companies, these combined signals are most valuable at the top of the funnel, since limited visibility at that stage wastes marketing budget, increases manual review further down the line and weakens portfolio performance.

EDGE functions as a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, issuing consumer reports built from cashflow data. In its role as a cashflow bureau, EDGE supplies cashflow-derived intelligence that lenders apply within regulated credit processes, spanning lead screening, underwriting and loan servicing.

The companies noted that as AI-generated identities and synthetic fraud become more widespread, this kind of intelligence is most valuable at the earliest stage of the lending journey. By combining EDGE’s cashflow intelligence with Socure’s identity and fraud signals, EDGE Screen aims to help lenders gain a clearer picture of who they are assessing, how that person behaves financially, and whether the lead merits further pursuit before it is priced or purchased.

EDGE is a consumer reporting agency and cashflow bureau built for modern consumer lending. The company turns bank transaction data into decision-ready insights that can be applied throughout the lending lifecycle.

Socure describes itself as a leading global provider of trust infrastructure, supplying identity verification and risk decisioning tools to over 3,000 organisations in more than 190 countries, including 19 of the top 20 US banks and upwards of 2,000 FinTechs.

EDGE founder and CEO Brian Reshefsky said, “EDGE was built to enable lenders to make better decisions across the credit lifecycle, beginning with powerful cashflow insights.

“At the top of the funnel, lenders need to understand more than financial behavior. They also need confidence in identity and clearer signals of potential fraud risk. Bringing Socure-powered identity and fraud intelligence alongside EDGE’s cashflow insights gives lenders a broader view of consumers. For applicants who match the EDGE Network, EDGE Screen can return the available intelligence to the lender in milliseconds, without requiring a new bank login or account reconnection. That noncredentialed feedback loop is what makes the solution work at the top of the funnel, helping lenders reduce wasted marketing spend and unnecessary application friction.”

Socure founder and CEO Johnny Ayers said, “Fraud shows up early in the application process, often before a lender ever sees a bank connection.

“AI has made it possible for fraudsters to look nearly identical to real people from the very first interaction, which is exactly where legacy checks fall short. Getting identity and fraud signals right at that early stage changes everything that follows, from underwriting to portfolio performance. Partnering with EDGE brings identity and fraud intelligence into a combined top-of-funnel view alongside the cashflow intelligence lenders already use, so they know who they’re evaluating before they ever request a new connection.”
