Ripjar, a provider of smarter screening and risk intelligence solutions, has expanded its senior leadership team with two new appointments as demand grows for more efficient, intelligence-led customer screening technology.
Conrad Nicholas has joined as chief product officer, taking charge of Ripjar’s product strategy and innovation roadmap, while Katie Miller has come on board as VP marketing, overseeing the firm’s global marketing strategy.
Together, the pair will support Ripjar’s work helping financial institutions and enterprises modernise anti-money laundering compliance and customer screening through explainable AI and a dynamic approach to risk assessment.
Conrad arrives at Ripjar from Droit, where as head of product for pre-trade compliance he oversaw a product line that saw revenue double ahead of the firm’s acquisition by FIS. Before that, he spent 12 years at UBS, most recently heading up product for regulatory onboarding and data services, where he shifted the function away from reactive regulatory delivery towards a product-led model. He started his career at Accenture, where he worked on implementing vendor solutions within complex banking environments, giving him experience of regulatory technology from both a buyer’s and a builder’s perspective.
Katie joins with more than two decades of marketing experience, including over seven years at AML Analytics as group head of marketing and communications, where she worked across financial crime, RegTech and supervisory technology. Her background includes direct work on sanctions screening and transaction monitoring testing and validation tools, selling into governments, financial intelligence units and regulators.
The hires arrive as organisations contend with mounting regulatory pressure, rapidly shifting global sanctions regimes and growing adverse media risks, a backdrop that is pushing screening away from manual, disjointed processes and towards scalable SaaS platforms built on fully explainable AI.
Ripjar is a UK-based financial crime compliance technology company, offering customer screening, adverse media monitoring and threat investigation software to more than 400 organisations worldwide, spanning Tier 1 banks, enterprises and government bodies.
Conrad Nicholas said, “Managing financial crime and reputational risk is becoming more complex, with growing adoption of AI among criminals, and I’ve experienced the challenges from different angles: as a bank deciding whether to build or buy, as a consultant implementing complex systems, and as a product leader creating technology that scales. Ripjar is already ahead of this market with its application of AI to improve screening accuracy and performance, its GCHQ heritage and a mission rooted in helping organisations make better, more defensible risk decisions. My focus is a roadmap that continues to turn that advantage into everyday value for customers, with explainability at the centre of how we build.
Katie Miller said: “Ripjar has already built a strong global reputation among financial institutions and enterprises. The opportunity to further expand Ripjar’s market presence and deepen its engagement with customers globally is an exciting proposition. Joining alongside Conrad also creates a unique chance to align product and marketing closely from the outset. I’m excited to bring my financial crime, RegTech and global marketing experience to support Ripjar’s global expansion.”
Ripjar Chief Executive Officer Matt Mills said: “Conrad and Katie join Ripjar at a crucial moment, following strong growth in our screening business that has seen annual recurring revenues increase by 40%. Their appointments strengthen our leadership team as we enter the next stage of evolution, including our expansion into markets such as the US, bringing together deep product expertise, sector insight and global marketing experience. Conrad’s background in building scalable, product-led platforms for complex regulatory environments and Katie’s proven track record in financial crime, RegTech and international go-to-market strategy will be invaluable as we continue to meet increasing demand for smarter screening solutions.”
