Aktio, established in 2020 in France, is a notable expert in carbon accounting and sustainability, certified as a B-Corp since 2022.
Apave Group, a long-standing entity known for its expertise in risk management and technical consultancy, has recently acquired Aktio. This move strengthens Apave’s capabilities in managing climate risks and supporting sustainability trajectories.
The acquisition of Aktio by Apave forms part of the latter’s growth strategy initiated in late 2020, aiming to bolster support for clients in climate risk management and sustainability planning. This strategic move underlines Apave’s commitment to expanding its ‘Green & Social’ services amidst growing demands for sustainable practices.
Aktio has gained recognition for its hybrid service model that blends ‘Climate Consulting’ with ‘Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Management Software’. Its software aligns with the Bilan Carbone method and meets all current methodological standards, aiding organisations in carbon footprint measurement, decarbonisation plans, and regulatory compliance. Apave, on the other hand, brings decades of risk management and consultancy expertise, focusing on technical standards and regulatory insights.
The merger creates a new entity, Aktio-Apave, set to become Apave Group’s benchmark in sustainability. This enhanced unit aims to provide comprehensive sustainability consulting and an innovative approach to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) software publishing, targeting more efficient and sustainable practices in operations.
Aktio’s integration into Apave not only solidifies the latter’s ‘Green & Social’ range but also amplifies its ability to assist clients with various transition plans, including energy, climate, and social changes. This acquisition promises a significant boost to Apave’s service offerings, driving forward their strategic ambitions in the sustainability domain.
The three co-founders of Aktio, Laurent Barbezieux, Alex Huyn, and Thibault Faninger, commented on the merger, stating, “Aktio was launched in 2020 to give all organisations the means to act, concretely and collectively, to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. At a time when the risks and consequences of climate change are intensifying, it is more essential than ever to democratise the low-carbon transition as quickly as possible.
“Joining the Apave Group, a leading player in environmental consulting and auditing, is an exceptional acceleration opportunity for Aktio, to equip, train and support the carbon accountants of tomorrow.”
