CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company known for its Falcon platform, has announced plans to acquire Pangea, a specialist in AI security.
The agreement marks a significant move in the cybersecurity space as CrowdStrike aims to secure every layer of the enterprise AI lifecycle.
The deal is designed to enhance CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform by creating the industry’s first complete AI Detection and Response (AIDR) system. While financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, the companies emphasised that the transaction would strengthen protection from enterprise AI development through to workforce use.
CrowdStrike, which pioneered Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), has established itself as a market leader in cybersecurity, protecting endpoints, workloads, and identities across cloud and on-premises environments. Pangea, founded with a focus on safeguarding AI systems, has developed advanced capabilities to protect data, models, agents, and interactions from emerging AI-driven threats.
The Falcon platform already provides robust security for AI models and environments by preventing data leakage, protecting AI agents across the SaaS stack, and ensuring workloads are safeguarded. Pangea’s technology will extend this by focusing on the critical interaction layer, enabling complete oversight and control of AI use across enterprises.
Among its features, Pangea brings tools to block prompt injection attacks, stop risky AI use, and secure AI across development and production. Its technology claims up to 99% efficacy against attacks such as model jailbreak attempts, while maintaining performance with sub-30ms latency. These capabilities will complement Falcon Shield, providing businesses with greater assurance in deploying AI safely at scale.
CrowdStrike said the integration of Pangea will allow customers to accelerate innovation without compromising security. The acquisition highlights the growing importance of AI security as organisations adopt generative AI and other advanced tools, which expand the potential attack surface for adversaries.
CrowdStrike CEO and founder George Kurtz said, “AI is rewriting the enterprise attack surface at breakneck speed. Each prompt becomes an entry point for the adversary. With Pangea, CrowdStrike will secure the entire AI lifecycle, detecting risks, enforcing safeguards, and ensuring compliance, so our customers can confidently build, deploy, and scale AI without risk.”
Pangea CEO and founder Oliver Friedrichs said, “Pangea was founded to make AI adoption safe and secure, giving enterprises the visibility and guardrails to embrace AI with confidence. By joining CrowdStrike, we will be able to deliver this vision on a global scale, unifying AI security with the Falcon platform and creating the industry’s first complete AI Detection and Response platform.”
