Cybersecurity startup Wirespeed raises seed round to transform MDR solutions

Wirespeed, a Minneapolis-based cybersecurity startup founded in July 2024, is on a mission to revolutionise managed detection and response (MDR) with a faster, more transparent, and automation-first approach.

The company has closed a seed funding round backed by several high-profile investors in the cybersecurity industry. The round was led by Mairs & Power Venture Capital and supported by a group of industry veterans including Gary Fish (founder of FishNet Security and Fishtech), Deke George (co-founder of NetSPI), Jeremiah Grossman through Grossman Ventures, RNP Capital Advisors led by Alan Dumas and David Bates, and SaaS entrepreneur Daren Cotter.

Wirespeed delivers an automated MDR platform that aims to offer the world’s fastest threat detection, triage, and response. The platform uses proprietary conditional logic to generate consistent threat verdicts in seconds and integrates directly with tools like Slack, Teams, Email, and SMS. This approach reduces the need for deep in-house security expertise and avoids the complexity of coding or playbook creation.

Wirespeed’s solution also incorporates ISO 2859 standards for maintaining human supervision and offers fully transparent pricing. Organisations can trial the platform by triaging 90 days of past threat data and directly comparing performance and cost reductions—reportedly cutting mean time to response by up to 90% and MDR costs by 40–50%.

Grossman Ventures founder Jeremiah Grossman said, “What excites me about Wirespeed is how unapologetically practical it is. The founders aren’t guessing, they’ve lived the pain, stripped away the noise, and built a product that just works. It’s exactly the kind of clarity and customer focus the MDR space has needed for years.”

Wirespeed Co-Founder and CEO Tim MalcomVetter said, “We are so grateful for our early customers who embraced our bold vision for what MDR should become and their trust has been invaluable.”
