Darktrace boosts cyber resilience with proposed acquisition of Cado Security

Darktrace and Cado Security, a specialist in cloud investigation and response from the UK, are set to merge.

Darktrace stands at the forefront of cybersecurity with innovative AI solutions, while Cado Security excels in providing comprehensive support across multi-cloud, container, serverless, SaaS, and on-premises environments. This merger, awaiting regulatory approval, is expected to conclude in February and marks a significant enhancement in cybersecurity responses.

The primary motive behind this acquisition is to bolster Darktrace’s cloud capabilities, following its successful ventures such as Darktrace / CLOUD™ for AWS and its extension to Microsoft Azure. Valued for its adeptness in cloud data capture and forensics, Cado Security will enable Darktrace to refine its data collection methods across diverse cloud environments, fortifying cyber defence mechanisms for customers.

Darktrace specialises in AI-driven cybersecurity solutions, creating systems that autonomously detect and respond to threats. On the other hand, Cado Security has carved a niche in cloud-based forensic investigations, making it a valuable addition to Darktrace’s arsenal.

This acquisition is part of a broader strategy by Darktrace, backed by its recent acquisition by Thoma Bravo, to expand its technological prowess and maintain its edge in the cybersecurity domain. Both companies are committed to continual innovation, with Cado’s R&D teams in London and Bristol set to join forces with Darktrace’s R&D centres.

Jill Popelka, CEO of Darktrace, highlighted the strategic fit of the acquisition: “At Darktrace, we have a clear and ambitious strategy: to develop best-in-class cybersecurity solutions for our customers that keep them safe through continuous innovation. The addition of Cado’s deep expertise in cloud-based data collection and forensics will enhance our ability to protect customers, ensuring they can operate securely and confidently across all areas of their business.”

James Campbell, Co-Founder and CEO of Cado Security, also expressed enthusiasm about the integration: “Darktrace is an excellent fit for Cado, providing an opportunity for growth and innovation while allowing our team to advance their careers within a dynamic company deeply committed to R&D and to protecting its customers from growing cyber threats. Our technologies build on each other’s strengths, and we are incredibly excited to work with the Darktrace team to continue to elevate AI-driven cybersecurity capabilities for our combined global customer base.”
