Defence data transfer firm LiveDrop secures $2.5m seed round

LiveDrop, a Netherlands-based company specialising in secure offline data transfer, has closed an oversubscribed $2.5m seed funding round.

The round was led by Value Creation Capital, with participation from Dutch fund Secfund and UK-based Kadmos Capital. Existing investor Patronum Investment also joined the round alongside a group of strategic angel investors, including Wi-Fi pioneer Cees Links.

Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Eindhoven, LiveDrop develops a proprietary software-based technology that enables fast and secure data transfers using optical encoding. Its platform is designed to run on standard hardware – such as laptops, smartphones, and cameras – making it easily integrable into mission-critical systems without relying on wireless or network connectivity.

LiveDrop primarily serves the defence and security sector, providing tools for unidirectional data exchange in highly sensitive environments. However, the company’s dual-use approach also opens applications in cybersecurity, healthcare, and secure communications for civilian users.

The newly secured funds will be used to expand the company’s technological deployment across defence, government, and civilian markets. LiveDrop plans to accelerate international growth and enhance its integration into secure data ecosystems through this latest capital injection.

LiveDrop CEO Patrick Moreu said, “The fact that this round was oversubscribed, and that both existing and new shareholders reaffirmed their commitment, is a powerful validation of our direction. The involvement of Secfund, Value Creation Capital, Kadmos Capital, and Wi-Fi pioneer Cees Links confirms the strength of our dual-use strategy and opens doors to broader deployment in NATO countries and beyond.”
