Flagright powers Scintilla’s real-time AML in UAE

Scintilla, a fully licensed virtual-asset exchange and broker/dealer regulated by the VARA in the UAE, has partnered with Flagright.

The collaboration aims to bolster Scintilla’s financial-crime prevention capabilities through the deployment of Flagright’s real-time Transaction Monitoring, Customer & Counterparty Risk Scoring, and Case Management tools. These will be integrated across Scintilla’s tokenisation, OTC stablecoin-to-fiat/crypto conversions, and exchange operations.

Flagright, headquartered in Berlin, provides an end-to-end compliance infrastructure for FinTechs, neobanks, and virtual-asset platforms. Its no-code solution enables institutions to configure AML and transaction monitoring systems quickly, while maintaining strong regulatory alignment. Scintilla, meanwhile, is a privately owned exchange and broker/dealer offering tokenisation services, remittance, OTC conversion, and secondary trading capabilities within the UAE’s regulated virtual-asset ecosystem.

Through this partnership, Scintilla will unify detection and investigation processes within a single platform to meet UAE AML/CFT expectations and VARA’s supervisory requirements. The implementation will provide real-time monitoring, dynamic risk scoring, AI-driven forensics, and comprehensive audit trails to streamline compliance operations.

Flagright’s technology allows Scintilla to detect threats before they materialise, with configurable rules tailored to tokenisation and conversion flows. The system’s dynamic scoring adjusts to behavioural and risk changes, while intelligent triage and collaboration tools support end-to-end case management. Additionally, the platform aligns with the UAE’s AML/CFT framework and FATF standards, ensuring regulator-ready reporting and transparency.

Scintilla CEO Tim Popplewell said, “Our business is built on trust, regulation, and execution. We chose Flagright because it gave us speed without sacrificing rigor. In a matter of weeks we can configure typologies for tokenization flows, OTC conversions, and exchange activity, monitor risk in real time, and document every decision end-to-end. That combination of agility and auditability is exactly what a regulated market participant in the UAE needs.”

Scintilla chief compliance officer Janey Schueller added, “Regulatory clarity and operational discipline are non-negotiable for us. Flagright lets our compliance team own the rulebook with which we can the risk score counterparties dynamically, triage alerts intelligently, reconstruct complex transaction trails with AI forensics, and produce regulator-ready evidence on demand. It elevates our risk-based approach while keeping operations efficient.”

Flagright co-founder and CEO Baran Ozkan said, “Scintilla is building a best-in-class, fully licensed venue in one of the world’s most forward-thinking jurisdictions. We’re excited to help them safeguard every transaction with a modern, configurable platform that goes live fast and scales with their growth.”
