Hadrian secures $40m as AI reshapes cyber attack landscape

Hadrian, an offensive security platform built on agentic AI, has secured $40m in fresh capital, taking its total funding to $65m as it prepares to grow across EMEA and the US.

Forgepoint Capital International and SmartFin co-led the round. Existing backers HV Capital, Motive Partners, Picus Capital and Oetker Ventures also took part. Hadrian will use the money to expand its presence in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the US, and to put more resources into its engineering and research teams.

The investment lands at a time when AI is reshaping how cyber attacks are carried out. In recent weeks, reports of AI agents breaking out of test environments and compromising company systems without human involvement have attracted wide attention.

Hadrian aims to close this gap by letting organisations view their security the way an attacker would. The platform maps a company’s digital footprint, uncovers risks and ranks what needs fixing first, so teams can strengthen their external attack surfaces. People define the objectives and make the key calls, while AI handles the work in between, offering round-the-clock coverage, repetition and speed that human teams cannot maintain.

The company says it is the only vendor to bring continuous exposure management and agentic penetration testing together on a single platform. Its Atlas product continually charts an organisation’s external attack surface and uses dedicated AI agents to confirm which exposures can really be exploited. Its Nova product delivers on-demand agentic pentesting that matches or exceeds human-level testing.

According to Hadrian, customers have seen ten times more visibility into critical exposures, an 80% reduction in time to resolution and five times the ROI of manual pentesting. Because Atlas and Nova share context, teams can move from ongoing monitoring into more detailed testing without having to begin again.

Hadrian CEO Rogier Fischer said, “Everyone can see that AI is changing the threat landscape. It might also hold the answer, but most people are focused on automating the wrong bits. We have been working with LLMs since before they went mainstream, and we know that AI can work much faster than any human offensive security team. So we built a platform that emulates hackers’ attack paths, helping our customers to understand their key risks and prioritise their security resources appropriately.”

Forgepoint Capital International managing director and partner Damien Henault said, “There are too many vulnerabilities and noise out there for teams to manage, so they need tools that can help them see clearly and think like AI-armed hackers. Hadrian’s AI native always-on solution delivers both depth and breadth and helps its customers to focus on genuine issues and risks, and the companies using its platform are testament to both its innovative approach and the strength of its team, both aspects which make them a natural choice for us to back.”
