Hopae taps Google Wallet to close the identity gap

Hopae

Hopae, the digital identity infrastructure provider, has teamed up with Google to act as an Aggregator for Google Wallet credentials, adding one of the largest mobile wallet ecosystems on the planet to its Hopae Connect platform.

The arrangement removes a significant engineering burden for enterprises. Rather than developing and running a bespoke connection to Google Wallet themselves, businesses can now confirm trusted identity credentials from the wallet directly through Hopae Connect. Verification happens via the same single API that Hopae customers already rely on to reach digital identity schemes around the globe.

At launch, the coverage spans mobile driving licences and state-issued identification across eleven US states. It also extends to ID Pass and Aadhaar credentials in six major markets, namely the US, UK, Brazil, Singapore, Taiwan, and India.

Hopae operates Hopae Connect, a platform that links businesses to digital identity systems worldwide through one integration, allowing them to verify credentials across different markets, platforms, and use cases.

The company argues the tie-up mirrors a broader shift in how identity is proven. Credentials held in mobile wallets are increasingly the default way individuals demonstrate who they are, both online and face to face.

With Google rolling out ID Pass internationally and the EU progressing towards adoption of the EUDI Wallet, Hopae believes its platform offers firms a scalable route to trusted credentials as this transition accelerates. Customers can now reach Google Wallet credentials through a single connection and position themselves for a mobile-native, wallet-based and global era of digital identity.
