Cardamon, a Y Combinator-backed provider of AI-powered regulatory compliance technology, has struck a partnership with Nubank, the Latin American banking giant, to strengthen its compliance operations across every market where the bank currently does business.
Nubank, which counts more than 140 million customers globally and carries a market capitalisation of $70bn, picked Cardamon earlier this year. Since then, Cardamon has rolled out its AI compliance platform across all of the jurisdictions in which the bank is active.
The platform is designed to work alongside Nubank’s international team of compliance specialists, functioning as a group of digital teammates. Its role is to help the bank expand into fresh territories and bring new products to market without falling short of its regulatory obligations.
For Nubank, the deal reflects how compliance has moved from a back-office function to a core driver of growth for regulated firms. Cardamon says the partnership will help the bank maintain its rapid pace of innovation while keeping compliance standards intact.
Cardamon builds AI technology that charts each firm’s specific regulatory position. According to the company, its system completes this mapping up to 20 times faster than legacy compliance platforms or manual in-house processes, allowing clients to act more quickly in a high-stakes sector.
Nubank is the latest addition to a growing roster of leading firms using Cardamon to simplify their compliance work, and the company has signalled that further client announcements are on the way.
Nubank compliance expert Amanda Hauch F. Silva said, “Partnering with Cardamon allows us to enhance our regulatory capabilities, streamline complex compliance processes and empower our teams with intelligent tools that support faster and more informed decision-making. We are excited about what we can achieve together as we continue building a world-class compliance organisation.”
