Regnology, a leading regulatory reporting software provider, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Wolters Kluwer’s Finance, Risk & Regulatory Reporting (FRR) business unit.
Regnology, based in Frankfurt, is known for its cloud-first solutions that support regulatory compliance across jurisdictions, while Wolters Kluwer’s FRR unit, part of its Financial & Corporate Compliance division, specialises in integrated finance, risk, and regulatory reporting solutions for financial institutions.
The acquisition forms a key part of Regnology’s strategy to expand its regulatory intelligence capabilities and offer comprehensive support for global financial institutions. By combining Regnology’s technology with FRR’s market presence and domain expertise, the deal aims to address increasing demands around Basel IV compliance and cross-border regulatory complexity. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed.
Regnology provides cloud-native solutions designed to help financial institutions modernise regulatory reporting, meet jurisdiction-specific obligations, and handle granular data requirements. Its platform supports clients with both heritage systems and cloud-ready environments.
FRR, the finance, risk, and regulatory reporting arm of Wolters Kluwer, delivers scalable solutions that help institutions manage compliance and reporting across multiple regulatory frameworks. It has built a strong presence globally with a focus on deep domain knowledge and customer support.
The integration of the two businesses is expected to enhance Regnology’s ability to deliver a unified platform that spans risk and finance functions, regulatory compliance, and scalable deployment models. This will allow clients to streamline infrastructure, improve data consistency, and stay ahead of emerging regulatory changes.
The deal is anticipated to close in the coming months, pending regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions, including employee consultations.
Regnology CEO Rob Mackay said, “FRR brings additional expertise and reach that will enhance our ability to serve clients globally. We look forward to supporting clients with a unified platform that helps them modernize their infrastructure, navigate Basel IV, and prepare for the future of regulatory reporting.”
Wolters Kluwer Financial & Corporate Compliance CEO Lisa Nelson said, “We are proud of the accomplishments of our Finance, Risk, and Regulatory Reporting teams. Regnology is strategically aligned to build on FRR’s strengths, and we are confident that they are joining an organization that is well-positioned to continue serving customers with excellence while opening new growth opportunities for employees.”
Nordic Capital Advisors partner Fredrik Näslund said, “This agreement reflects Regnology’s continued momentum and innovation in the regulatory technology space. It positions the company to deliver even greater value to financial institutions worldwide. Nordic Capital is truly excited about Regnology’s continued journey.”
