SMBC Americas rolls out Fenergo to speed client onboarding

SMBC Americas and Fenergo, a provider of client onboarding and lifecycle management technology for financial institutions, have announced the rollout of Fenergo’s platform across SMBC Americas.

The partnership is aimed at transforming SMBC Americas’ client and investor onboarding experience in North America, supporting a broader, multi-year programme to modernise core capabilities, simplify technology infrastructure and reduce manual work across workflows.

For SMBC Americas, the rollout is positioned as a technology upgrade designed to reduce friction at the start of the client relationship, accelerate onboarding timelines and improve overall execution for clients and their investors. The bank said the implementation will enhance experiences throughout the onboarding lifecycle and beyond, as it looks to offer industry-leading solutions across client lifecycle events.

Fenergo, meanwhile, provides an onboarding and lifecycle management solution built to help financial institutions create connected journeys across the client lifecycle. In the context of this rollout, the solution is intended to help standardise and automate workflows, supporting operational efficiency and enabling more consistent handling of lifecycle events.

SMBC Americas said the technology will deliver global connectivity and a set of practical benefits, including faster, more transparent and more streamlined execution of client lifecycle events. By standardising and automating processes, the bank expects to drive operational efficiency while also improving compliance-related experiences, including the ability to reuse verified Know Your Customer (KYC) data across internal entities and strengthen Anti-Money Laundering (AML) processes.

The rollout was also framed as an important step within SMBC’s longer-term technology strategy, with both firms signalling an ambition to establish a scalable operating model that can support continued innovation across the organisation over time.
