StarCompliance, a RegTech firm specialising in employee and firm compliance technology, has unveiled StarAssist, an AI-powered capability designed to embed explainable, auditable intelligence directly into compliance decision-making workflows.
The new tool sits within Star’s existing STAR Platform rather than operating as a standalone add-on, meaning compliance teams can act on AI-generated insights without leaving the systems they already use. StarAssist converts complex rule evaluations and audit trails into plain-language explanations, giving teams a clearer view of how a decision was reached, the factors behind it, and what action to take next.
The launch comes as regulators place growing pressure on firms to demonstrate transparency and auditability around employee activity. Star says that in a landscape where AI tools frequently sit outside the core decision process, the key differentiator for StarAssist is its native integration — allowing firms to act more quickly whilst keeping control over risk, data, and decision integrity. By reducing the need for manual research and removing ambiguity from case reviews, the capability is intended to help compliance teams resolve matters more efficiently and maintain consistency across an organisation.
StarAssist initially covers employee compliance workflows, including personal account dealing, pre-clearance, and trade monitoring, with broader expansion across the STAR Platform planned for future phases.
StarCompliance is a provider of employee and firm compliance technology solutions, serving millions of users across 120 countries and with more than 25 years of operating history. Its Enterprise Platform connects people, workflows, and data to deliver technology and actionable insight aimed at proactively mitigating risk and monitoring conflicts.
The StarAssist launch is positioned by Star as the foundation of a broader AI strategy, with the firm aiming to embed trusted, explainable intelligence across every compliance workflow. Key capabilities include decision transparency through natural language outputs, workflow-native AI that requires no separate tools or overlays, regulator-ready documentation produced within strict governance boundaries, and operational efficiency gains through reduced investigation times and improved consistency.
Star chief product officer Kelvin Dickenson said, “Compliance teams don’t just need answers; they need to understand and stand behind them. StarAssist was built to deliver fast, explainable, auditable insights – bringing one-click clarity to complex compliance decisions and aligning with regulatory expectations.”
