Sumsub and Fingerprint partner to fight identity fraud

Sumsub has expanded its Fraud Prevention platform by integrating advanced device intelligence capabilities from Fingerprint, aiming to strengthen real-time threat detection and stop identity fraud before it begins.

The partnership brings Fingerprint’s market-leading device intelligence to Sumsub’s full-cycle verification platform. By analysing device behaviour and network-level data beyond simple IP tracking, the solution delivers highly accurate, real-time insights into user integrity, helping businesses detect threats before they escalate into serious fraud.

With this new layer of security, companies can prevent transaction fraud, detect and block bot activity, stop multi-accounting and account takeovers, and significantly reduce KYC costs, all while preserving a smooth and simple experience for genuine users.

Internal data from Sumsub highlights the importance of monitoring user behaviour beyond the initial onboarding phase. According to the company, 76% of fraud attempts occur after users have completed onboarding, typically during routine activities such as logging in, making transactions, or updating profiles. Device Intelligence addresses this challenge by enabling real-time monitoring throughout the entire customer journey. This is particularly valuable for sectors at high risk of fraud, including iGaming, digital assets, FinTech, banking and e-commerce, where safeguarding user accounts is crucial for maintaining trust and protecting businesses across global markets.

The technology does not collect any personal or sensitive data, focusing instead on technical parameters like browser type, operating system, and the use of VPNs or proxies. Through its integration with Fingerprint, Sumsub gains access to Smart Signals, which can detect incognito browsing, developer tools, remote access software, and other indicators of suspicious activity.

By combining behavioural analysis with device fingerprinting, Sumsub’s enhanced solution reduces false positives—instances where legitimate users are mistakenly flagged—while improving fraud detection accuracy across all stages of the user journey, from registration to transactions and profile updates.

Sumsub CPO Andrew Novoselsky said, “We are combining our own technology with Fingerprint, a leader in device intelligence. Together, our solutions provide greater accuracy and a more complete fraud prevention system, with no coding required on the clients’ side. With Device Intelligence, you gain deep visibility into user integrity and have the power to stop fraud in real time — before it causes damage such as monetary losses, operational disruptions or reputational risks.”

Fingerprint vice president of global sales Shaun Per said, “We’re excited to bring Fingerprint’s advanced device intelligence to the Sumsub platform. By combining our industry-leading accuracy and reliability with Sumsub’s powerful identity verification and fraud prevention solutions, we’re helping businesses unlock deeper insights into user behavior with real-time signals to reduce fraud and deliver more seamless onboarding experiences.”
