FireCompass secures $20m boost from EC-Council

FireCompass has secured more than $20m in funding from EC-Council, the global cybersecurity training provider best known for creating the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) credential.

The investment is part of EC-Council’s $100m Cybersecurity Innovation Commitment, designed to accelerate the development of next-generation defences as cybercrime escalates.

Founded to help enterprises test and defend their digital systems, FireCompass combines six core capabilities into a single platform. These include attack surface management, continuous threat exposure management, penetration testing as a service, network and application penetration testing, and red teaming. The system is powered by patented Agentic AI technology, which emulates real-world adversaries by chaining vulnerabilities, moving laterally, and validating risks at scale with minimal false positives.

The fresh capital will be used to drive innovation, global expansion, and further integration of Agentic AI into enterprise security offerings. EC-Council also plans to mobilise its network of partners, alumni, and research programmes to support FireCompass in reaching more organisations worldwide.

The company has already uncovered more than 2.5m real attack paths and exploitable weaknesses for its clients, helping reduce remediation times by 40%. FireCompass is trusted by Fortune 500 firms, government agencies, and managed security service providers (MSSPs) in over 40 countries, and is now expanding further into finance, healthcare, telecoms, and the public sector.

EC-Council group president Jay Bavisi said, “With this investment, EC-Council is not only contributing significant capital but will also invest in growth opportunities, research collaborations, and provide access to our vast global ecosystem. This is about building the future of cybersecurity by combining the power of AI technology with the scale of the world’s most trusted cybersecurity education platform.”

FireCompass co-founder and CEO Bikash Barai said, “The AI race in cybersecurity isn’t coming; it’s here. Attackers are already using AI to move faster than human defenders can respond. Our AI-driven platform thinks and acts like a real attacker chaining vulnerabilities, moving laterally, and validating risks continuously at machine scale. It outpaces humans by orders of magnitude. This investment from EC-Council not only accelerates our innovation but also connects us to the strength of their global ecosystem, an incredible boost as we scale worldwide.”

Internationally recognised security technologist Bruce Schneier, who advises FireCompass, added, “FireCompass is tackling one of cybersecurity’s most significant challenges by helping defenders match the speed and persistence of attackers in an ever-evolving landscape. Their AI-powered approach to automating multi-stage attacks and penetration testing is a game-changer. In particular, Agentic AI provides a promising solution to an otherwise unsolved problem.”

The investment will also strengthen EC-Council Global Services by embedding FireCompass’s Agentic AI into automated penetration testing, continuous threat exposure management, and red teaming, providing organisations with executive-level threat intelligence to prepare for sophisticated attacks.
