Cybersecurity startup SafeHill raises $2.6m pre-seed

SafeHill

SafeHill, a Chicago-based cybersecurity firm formerly known as Tacticly, has emerged from stealth with a focus on transforming how enterprises manage cyber risk.

The company has built a platform designed to help organisations expose attack paths before hackers can exploit them, blending advanced automation with human expertise.

The firm announced the close of a $2.6m pre-seed funding round. The investment was led by Mucker Capital and Chingona Ventures, with additional participation from Techstars, Chicago Early Growth Ventures, The Source Groups, Virginia Union University, and angel investor Eddie Lou.

SafeHill specialises in threat exposure management, offering enterprises the ability to build Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) programmes. These allow businesses to continuously identify, measure, and remediate cyber risks rather than relying on traditional point-in-time security testing. Its flagship solution, SafeHill SecureIQ™, combines automated asset discovery and threat assessments with human-validated penetration testing.

With the fresh capital, SafeHill intends to grow its engineering team and further develop its AI-driven ethical hacking capabilities. The company also plans to broaden its real-time monitoring services, strengthen compliance-mapping features, and build deeper partnerships with enterprise security teams.

The startup was co-founded by Mike Pena, Nicholas Gonzalez, and Hector Monsegur, a former blackhat hacker once known as “Sabu”. By combining insider expertise with modern AI tools, the team aims to offer organisations an always-on, adaptive view of their security posture.

SafeHill has already secured early traction with customers. Among them is Bandsintown, whose CTO Xavier Cany praised the company’s impact. “After working with SafeHill (previously known as Tacticly) on a penetration test, we decided to give their platform a shot and it’s been a game changer. SafeHill’s team is always eager to help us at any time. Their platform not only supports our pentesting but has helped us design our CTEM program. They’ve been great to work with so far.”

SafeHill CEO Mike Pena highlighted the broader challenge the company is seeking to solve. “Cyber threats are evolving faster than ever, overwhelming security teams with alerts and noise. Our platform combines AI-driven continuous penetration testing with expert human validation to cut through the noise, focus on real risks, and deliver the impact of a dedicated team of ethical hackers at scale.”

This marks SafeHill’s first disclosed external funding as it officially launches its platform and brand identity to the public.
