Sumsub, Sumvin link KYC to AI agent commerce

Sumsub

Sumsub, a global identity verification provider, and Sumvin, a market-leading agentic commerce platform, have announced a partnership designed to let AI agents make purchases and handle financial accounts on behalf of individuals who have completed KYC checks.

The tie-up embeds Sumsub’s identity verification technology within Sumvin’s agentic credential, allowing AI agents to transact in real time on behalf of verified users. It draws on Sumsub’s AI Agent Verification tool, part of its Know Your Agent (KYA) framework, alongside its Reusable Identity offering, which lets someone verify their identity once and reuse that verification across multiple platforms.

The companies said this marks the first time trust standards from regulated finance can move with the user, held within an encrypted, portable credential that merchants and financial institutions are able to recognise and rely upon.

AI agents are taking on a growing role in completing purchases, running subscriptions and handling financial tasks for users, yet the industry has lacked a verification standard capable of confirming that an agent genuinely represents a real, verified person rather than operating independently or fraudulently.

Under the new setup, a verified user’s credential becomes encrypted and portable, so their agent can operate under a trusted, identifiable profile wherever it interacts online, with the credential vouching for both the human and the agent working on their behalf.

Sumsub and Sumvin confirmed the capability will roll out to developers worldwide in August 2026. Merchants stand to gain a straightforward way to accept transactions initiated by agents without absorbing identity risk themselves, users are freed from repeated identity checks each time they use a new platform, and financial services providers can extend their existing trust frameworks into this emerging agentic layer.

Sumvin describes itself as a market-leading agentic commerce platform enabling AI agents to act on behalf of verified users across merchants and financial services.

Sumvin CEO Simon Jones said, “Agentic commerce only works when merchants and financial institutions can trust who is behind the agent. Integrating KYC-grade identity verification into the agentic credential is the missing primitive – the moment a verified human and an authorized agent become one trusted, portable identity across the internet.”

Sumsub head of partnerships, UK & EU, Thomas Taraniuk said, “Identity verification has always been the foundation of trusted commerce, but until now it hasn’t traveled with the user across different platforms and services.

“By powering the verification inside Sumvin’s agentic credential with AI Agent Verification, our KYA capability that binds agent activity to a verified human, Sumsub is extending KYC-grade trust into the agent layer. At Sumsub, we do not believe automation to be inherently ‘good’ nor ‘bad’. However, as the industry has evolved, it is now possible for AI to act on behalf of humans across any merchant or financial service, anywhere in the world. Therefore, it is crucial we ensure such agents are verified and bound to an accountable human.”
