BGL, a provider of compliance and practice management software, has announced a new partnership with OnboardMe, a client onboarding platform, aimed at streamlining onboarding and AML/CTF compliance for accounting firms.
The collaboration comes as the AML/CTF Act was extended on 1 July 2026 to include accounting firms and other professional services businesses for the first time in almost 20 years. The change brings an estimated 80,000 additional businesses under the supervision of AUSTRAC, a figure around six times larger than the regulator’s current oversight base.
Under the planned integration, OnboardMe’s client onboarding workflow will connect with BGL Firm Verify, BGL’s dedicated AML/CTF compliance platform. The aim is to allow firms to progress from onboarding straight into compliance checks without having to re-enter client details or move between separate systems.
The combined offering is designed to support several core Tranche 2 compliance requirements. These include identity verification for both individuals and businesses, known as KYC and KYB, along with beneficial ownership identification. The integration will also support screening for politically exposed persons, sanctions and adverse media, as well as customer due diligence for designated services. Ongoing monitoring and alerts are included, alongside support for AML/CTF programmes, firm risk assessments and AUSTRAC reporting.
The OnboardMe integration forms part of a broader programme of BGL Firm Verify integrations scheduled throughout 2026. This wider rollout will include a two-way sync across the BGL Suite, covering BGL CAS 360, BGL Simple Fund 360 and BGL Simple Invest 360, along with planned connections to Xero Practice Manager, MYOB Practice Management, Karbon and APS Contacts+.
BGL chief product officer Jeevan Tokhi said, “Accounting firms shouldn’t have to bolt compliance onto the end of their onboarding process. By connecting OnboardMe with BGL Firm Verify, a firm can take a new client from engagement and onboarding straight through to AML/CTF compliance, customer due diligence and identity verification, all without re-keying data or jumping between systems. It’s onboarding and compliance working as one.”
OnboardMe co-founder Lee Williams said, “Our mission has always been to remove the friction from onboarding and client engagement. This partnership with BGL means our clients will be able to meet their Tranche 2 obligations inside the same workflow they already use to bring clients on. For accounting firms, that’s one less disconnected system to manage
