Payhawk tightens grip on financial crime risk with Flagright

Flagright

Payhawk has partnered with Flagright to strengthen fraud prevention and anti-money laundering (AML) oversight across its entire platform.

The partnership sees Flagright’s technology deployed to give Payhawk a unified view of risk as transactions flow through cards, accounts, suppliers, entities, currencies and markets.

Rather than relying on fragmented systems to catch suspicious activity, Payhawk’s fraud and AML teams will now apply consistent logic across every type of payment, allowing them to flag irregular behaviour and screen relevant parties without disrupting genuine corporate spending.

The deployment spans several capabilities. Approved card, account and payment activity is tracked in real time using configurable controls, while customers and counterparties are checked against sanctions lists, politically exposed persons (PEP) registers and other relevant watchlists.

The monitoring logic itself is designed to flex across different entities, products, markets and transaction patterns, and supports a standardised approach to reviewing and escalating cases across both fraud and AML functions. The system is also built to preserve clear, audit-ready records of every decision made.

Payhawk operates as a single platform covering corporate cards, expense management, business travel, accounts payable, procurement, global payments and broader enterprise financial controls, giving finance teams one place to manage spend as their organisations expand into new markets.

The collaboration reflects a wider shift in how scaling companies are approaching financial crime prevention, moving away from siloed tools and towards connected systems capable of adapting as transaction volumes, products and geographic footprints grow.

Payhawk group chief compliance officer Thibaud Catry said, “Fraud and AML risk increasingly intersect across cards, accounts, suppliers, and payments. In most finance stacks those controls sit in separate systems. With Flagright, we now monitor every payment type against the same logic, across every market we operate in, as Payhawk continues to scale.”

Flagright co-founder and CEO Baran Özkan said, “Payhawk has built an enterprise operating layer for global corporate spend. Protecting that environment requires fraud prevention and AML compliance to work from connected signals and controls, rather than separate systems. Flagright gives Payhawk a real time, configurable financial crime compliance layer that can evolve across cards, accounts, suppliers, entities, and payment activity.”
