Key global RegTech investment stats in H1 2026:
- Global RegTech funding dropped 32% YoY in H1
- US companies secured 70% of the top 10 deals to cement the country’s position as the leading RegTech hub globally
- LeapXpert, a developer of a digital communications governance and compliant messaging intelligence platform, raised $180m in a growth funding round, marking one of the biggest global RegTech deals of the period
Global RegTech funding dropped 32% YoY in H1
Global RegTech investment in H1 2026 reached $2.4bn across 252 deals, representing a 32% decline in funding compared to the $3.5bn raised across 244 deals in H1 2025.
Deal volume, by contrast, edged up by 3% year-on-year, creating a divergence between transaction activity and capital deployed that is reflected in a notable compression of average deal sizes.
The average deal value fell to $9.4m in H1 2026, down from $14.2m in H1 2025, suggesting that while the market remained active in terms of the number of transactions completed, investors were committing meaningfully less capital per deal.
The pattern points to a more cautious funding climate at the larger end of the market, with the volume of significant deals holding up reasonably well even as the overall quantum of investment contracted.
US companies secured 70% of the top 10 deals to cement the country’s position as the leading RegTech hub globally
The country-level breakdown of the top 10 deals in H1 2026 shows the US extending its dominance compared to H1 2025, accounting for seven of the ten largest transactions, up from six in the prior period.
India was a notable new entrant, securing two top deals in H1 2026, a market that did not feature among the largest transactions in H1 2025 and whose appearance signals growing momentum in its RegTech sector at scale.
The Netherlands also made its first appearance in the comparable periods, contributing one top deal.
In contrast, Israel, which had secured two top deals in H1 2025, was absent from H1 2026, as were France and Australia, each of which had contributed one deal in the earlier period.
The reshaping of the non-US contingent within the top 10 reflects the fluid nature of which markets produce the sector’s largest deals outside of the United States, where dominance at the upper end of the funding table remained firmly intact.
LeapXpert, a developer of a digital communications governance and compliant messaging intelligence platform, raised $180m in a growth funding round, marking one of the biggest global RegTech deals of the period
The round was led by Riverwood Capital, with participation from existing investor Portage Ventures, with Jeff Parks of Riverwood Capital joining the board in conjunction with the financing.
New York City-based LeapXpert provides enterprise-grade communications orchestration infrastructure that captures, archives and analyses employee-to-client interactions across consumer messaging networks including WhatsApp, iMessage, Signal and WeChat, within strict regulatory frameworks.
The platform addresses a growing compliance challenge for financial institutions and government agencies, where the proliferation of decentralised messaging channels has created significant gaps in supervisory oversight, data sovereignty and audit trail integrity.
Its real-time compliance architecture is actively deployed across major financial institutions, enabling firms to meet regulatory obligations around communications surveillance without restricting the messaging channels their clients prefer to use.
Proceeds will be used to deepen conversational intelligence capabilities, accelerate enterprise sales across the public sector and Forbes Global 2000 markets, and expand the senior leadership team.
