Jumio has extended its reusable identity offering, selfie.DONE, into the Asia-Pacific region, giving regulated businesses in the market a way to verify returning customers without repeatedly requesting document scans.
The rollout follows earlier launches of selfie.DONE in Latin America and North America, and represents the next stage of Jumio’s international expansion of the product.
The tool draws on a global, consented identity graph, allowing businesses to recognise previously verified, trusted users through a selfie alone, while reserving full document checks for cases where the system cannot confidently confirm identity or where risk is flagged.
According to Jumio, deployments of selfie.DONE have delivered a 20% rise in verification completion rates, with as many as 60% of users able to finish verification through the selfie-only route rather than submitting an ID document.
Jumio’s approach differs from closed identity wallets or networks limited to partner businesses, as its identity graph draws on data across its entire customer base. The graph currently holds more than 75 million legitimate and fraudulent identities and expands by roughly 85,000 identities each day.
This continuous intelligence is designed to let organisations across sectors including financial services, cryptocurrency exchanges, gaming and sharing economy platforms identify trusted users wherever they were first verified, while still applying fresh risk checks to every transaction.
Nimbura, a Malaysia-based FinTech platform connecting consumers to online lending and financing options, is tracking the rollout as it develops its own trusted digital ecosystem in the region.
Jumio president and CPTO Bala Kumar said, “The launch of selfie.DONE in APAC marks a pivotal milestone in our mission to redefine digital trust. With the region’s dynamic, mobile-first economy, the demand for frictionless, high-assurance onboarding has never been higher.
“By introducing selfie.DONE to the region, we’re helping organizations shift from point-in-time verification to a model of continuous, contextual, and connected identity intelligence, enabling them to instantly recognize trusted users and turn identity verification from a friction point into a competitive advantage.”
Nimbura CEO for Asia Artjoms Borcovs said, “In digital lending, reducing onboarding friction can have a meaningful impact on customer conversion, provided security and compliance remain uncompromised. selfie.DONE has significant potential to simplify the experience for trusted customers through selfie-first verification, while continuing to assess identity risk in real time. We are looking forward to seeing how this approach can improve both customer experience and operational efficiency at Nimbura.”
