Local news blind spots shrink as Blackdot joins Opoint

Blackdot Solutions, a specialist in intelligence and investigations software, has joined forces with Opoint, a worldwide supplier of media intelligence and news data, to feed structured news and adverse media insight into its Videris platform.

The move aims to close gaps that investigators face when relying on mainstream coverage alone.

Under the agreement, Opoint will supply its news dataset to Blackdot’s Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) offering. The dataset draws on more than 250,000 news outlets and generates around 3.5 million articles each day.

The integration is designed to help investigators carry out adverse media checks, add richer risk detail at the entity level and deepen their analysis. Access to regional and local publications means users can find reporting that larger international outlets may overlook.

The partners expect the tie-up to support a range of tasks, including adverse media screening, anti-money laundering work, counter-terrorism financing probes and enhanced due diligence. The goal is to let investigators spot risk faster across both worldwide and regional reporting.

Videris serves Financial Intelligence Units, law enforcement agencies, compliance teams within financial services and corporate risk specialists. These users rely on it for open-source investigations covering entity mapping, risk analysis and structured reporting, all backed by complete audit trails. Opoint’s data is set to give these users a clearer view of the people and organisations they are examining.

Opoint CSO Toby Cook said, “Our partnership with Blackdot brings Opoint’s global news intelligence directly into investigative workflows within the Videris platform. With coverage spanning news sources worldwide, our dataset helps investigators access information and context that may not be visible through traditional news sources alone.

“Blackdot users can now build an even more complete picture of individuals and organisations, supporting more informed risk assessments and due diligence processes.”

Blackdot Solutions CEO Stuart Clarke said, “The OSINT landscape is increasingly complex, and investigators need access to structured, authoritative data sources to work effectively. Integrating Opoint’s global news intelligence into Videris strengthens our platform’s capability to deliver investigative depth and entity context. This partnership reflects our commitment to helping customers across both the public and private sector access the information they need to work more efficiently in economic crime and compliance investigations.”
