Sumsub ends repeat KYC checks across MiniPay’s network

Sumsub, the identity verification provider, has unveiled its Reusable KYC Gateway at Token2049 Singapore, with stablecoin wallet MiniPay becoming the first live integrator and giving users a single verified identity that works across its network of regulated partners.

Under the new set-up, a MiniPay user completes identity verification once and can then reuse that credential with any regulated partner in the ecosystem. MiniPay itself never has to hold, process or manage sensitive personal information such as identity documents. The Gateway joins Reusable KYC Share as part of Sumsub’s broader Reusable KYC offering.

The launch targets a persistent friction point. MiniPay is active in more than 70 countries and has seen over 20m wallets opened. Because it is self-custodial, MiniPay has no obligation to verify users directly. Instead, its partners, which include on and off ramps, card issuers and payment providers, have each carried out their own KYC.

This forced the same person to upload documents and take a new selfie with every additional partner, despite confirming an identical identity within one ecosystem. Every duplicated check created another point where users might abandon the process, hurting partner conversion and wasting customer time.

With the Gateway, a user prompted to verify can either rely on one of 15m existing Sumsub IDs or complete a fresh check using an ID document and selfie. The user must actively agree to link that verified identity to their MiniPay account, retaining control over what information goes where.

When they first engage a regulated partner, they give a one-off consent to share their identity, and the partner obtains the verified data straight from Sumsub ID. Partners can finish onboarding without presenting extra screens, while still applying their own compliance rules, with further checks triggered for higher-risk transactions. Because data flows directly from Sumsub to the partner, MiniPay never touches identity documents or biometric data.

Early results are significant. Since moving to this model, MiniPay partners have recorded verification conversion climbing from roughly 70% to 95%, alongside KYC completion times shrinking by as much as 50%. Eight MiniPay partners already rely on Sumsub for verification.

Sumsub provides identity verification services, including its Reusable KYC product line, while MiniPay ranks among the fastest growing stablecoin wallets.

Sumsub chief product officer Andrew Novoselsky said, “Repeated KYC checks across the same ecosystem are inconvenient for everyone, and one in three applicants we see have already verified with us before.” He added, “Reusable KYC Gateway puts that reuse to work for MiniPay’s users, giving them a single verified identity that works throughout its entire partner network, with full control over what they share and with whom.”

Opera senior director of business development Murray Spark said, “Self-custody has always been central to MiniPay. Users hold their own funds, and now they also control their own verified identity. They decide what to share and with whom, and that matters more and more as our partner network expands across new markets.”
