AutoRek expands AI capabilities with Grath acquisition

AutoRek, a financial controls and reconciliation automation software company, has acquired London-based AI reconciliation firm Grath, extending its AI capabilities and giving financial institutions a governed route to automation across reconciliation and compliance.

The deal folds Grath’s AI technology into AutoRek’s financial controls platform, including Topa, the API-enabled AI infrastructure Grath launched earlier this year. Topa allows financial services firms to embed AI-based matching, machine learning models trained on financial services data and agentic reasoning for exception handling within their own systems, an option for organisations that want to build reconciliation capabilities in-house while retaining governance and oversight.

Post-acquisition, AutoRek will offer three deployment models under a single financial controls framework. The enterprise private cloud platform, alongside the AutoRek Intelligent Agent (ARIA), is aimed at organisations with high transaction volumes, complex data environments and strict regulatory requirements. Grath’s multi-tenant SaaS platform will continue serving fast-growing firms that require FCA-aligned governance without building their own infrastructure, now backed by AutoRek’s global delivery operations. Topa provides reusable AI matching services and governed agentic reasoning for institutions developing their own AI-driven financial operations.

AutoRek CEO Chris Livesey said, “Customers want the benefits of AI delivered through governance, auditability and human oversight. By bringing together AutoRek’s enterprise control capabilities with Grath’s AI innovation, customers gain more choice in how they deploy and more confidence in the controls that underpin it.”

The transaction also expands AutoRek’s international footprint, adding Grath’s client base in the United States and the UAE. It follows the opening of AutoRek’s Miami office earlier this year and the hiring of two senior regional sales leaders as the company continues to build out its international operations.

Grath CEO Matt Povey also added, “Financial services is at an inflection point. Institutions no longer want to choose between robust enterprise controls and the speed of AI-led innovation, and now they do not have to. Whether customers want a dedicated deployment, a SaaS solution live in hours, or embedded agentic infrastructure, they can now adopt any model within a single governed framework.”
