Cense raises €6.5m seed to tackle digital asset compliance

Cense, a digital asset compliance and evidence platform designed for financial institutions, has closed a €6.5m seed round co-led by G+D Ventures and Rabo Investments, with several angel investors also contributing meaningfully to the raise.

The funding will be used to scale Cense’s sales team, strengthen its market presence across Europe, and bring additional private and retail banks onto the platform.

The round comes as banks face mounting difficulty tracking the movement of funds between digital asset wallets, exchanges, and the traditional financial system, particularly when digital assets are liquidated and transferred into bank accounts. Without adequate visibility into the source of those funds, institutions risk exposure to money laundering, sanctions violations, and terrorist financing, often leading to declined transactions, damaged client relationships, and lost business.

Cense’s platform sits at the junction of digital assets and traditional banking, automating compliance due diligence and generating standardised, auditable documentation. It works by gathering and analysing wallet, exchange, and transaction data to produce consistent reporting that gives institutions a reliable basis for decision-making.

The company positions itself as addressing a gap that neither legacy anti-money laundering systems, which were not built with digital assets in mind, nor pure digital asset analytics tools have been able to fill, as the latter do not adequately reflect banks’ regulatory obligations or internal processes.

G+D Ventures principal Andreas Barthelmes said, “What stands out most is the team behind Cense is that the founders have already built two successful companies, and are early pioneers in the space. They combine strong product expertise with proven entrepreneurial experience. The market opportunity is equally compelling, driven by accelerating institutional adoption of digital assets and an increasingly complex regulatory environment that demands precisely such solutions.”

Rabo Investments director Koen Lenssen said, “Rabo Investments is excited to support the team at Cense in this development, reflecting the strong alignment behind a platform that addresses a clear gap in existing solutions.”

Cense CEO Dennis Wohlfarth said, “Banks need trusted infrastructure to manage digital asset exposure with the same confidence they apply to financial crime and compliance. This investment validates Cense’s position as that infrastructure layer. G+D Ventures and Rabo Investments bring deep expertise, strong banking networks and operational experience, giving us a strong foundation for the continued expansion.”
